i have an emaxx with trinity monster maxx 17 turn motors. i got the truck from my nephew a few weeks ago. it had brand new monster maxx motors on it. i wired them up and ran the truck with 7.2 3000mah batteries, it would do serious wheelies in 2nd gear! it ran great for about three days (4 to 5 runs) then it started running slower and slower and then i pulled the motors and the brushes where worn out! i put two new motors in it ( same ones) and again about 4-6 runs later they have gotten weak. the brushes arent in as bad of shape on the newer motors but the truck wont run haed any longer. the other day it started out running slugish and after about a minute it started running great again and then pooped out again. the brushes do look terrible. i realize that the 18 tooth pinions are probably too big but it runs so good! the motors do not have any sign of burning or discoloration around the brush holders but they do get hot. does anyone have any idea why it is going through brushes so fast? and the new motors comms look like they need to be cut down already!!!

please help!

i have the older emaxx with the speed control before the evx. i have an evx on the way, will it work any better?

twin monster maxx wild 17 turn motors

i love the power it has and the speed is there something i can do to get these motors to live?

sorry about the long post. thanks for any help you can give me!

does anyone sell a dual brushless setup for this truck?? i really dont want to spend the money on them but i might if its not too bad.

also , does anyone know if the revo will pop wheelies and do burnouts as good as the tmaxx?

thanks again , john

did you break the motors in? brushed electric motors need to be broke in like nitro engines

and i belive novak make a brushless system for the emaxx check out towerhobbies

Out of the package the Monster Maxx motors don't need to be broken in. Not all electric motors need to be broken in, just some. What you're acutally breaking in are the brushes on the motor.

If the motors get really hot you need to change the gearing in your truck. I don't remember what the timing is set at, but you could reduce your timing and that might help with the heat also. The more you advance the timing the more amps the motor will pull = more heat and more rebuilds.

Mod motors are a lot of maintainance....that's really all there is to it. They're not like closed can motors...they're made to put out more power and be adjustable and rebuildable. The reason so many people are switching to brushless is because of the lack of maintainace and efficiency.

Instead of buying new motors, just replace your brushes. Also many times you don't really need to cut the com. Get a com cleaning stick. It's dark green in color and costs around $3. It'll remove a lot of discoloration and small imperfections in the com. It won't do what cutting a com will do, but it does a great job and is well worth having.

Have fun,
Bryan
