need help identifying a car

i was wondering if anyone knows what kind of car this is. my boss gave it to me after his son had passed away. They know nothing about the car. I have looked through it to see if there were any brand stamps or anything and have found nothing. the engine is missing the piston, rod and pull start assembly. The parts to repair the engine cost more than a new one so replacing it would be logical. the car is missing the transmitter, charger for battery pack and I'm assuming the front bumper is missing a foam block. here are some pictures that i took...

Fuel tank screams tamiya at me... Appears to be a bit older whatever it is.
