I'm nev to the whole nitro rc thing and got a savage limited edition for x-mas,
I am having trouble getting it to stay on, what happens is that I'll get it to start with the roto start and when I remove it it shuts off. Is there something that needs to bee adjusted? please help!.
:hammer:

Check your carb gap and make sure it is between 1-2 mm. Check your glow plug to make sure all the coils light up. Then try leaning out the LSN (turn the screw clockwise) 1/12 of a turn at a time until it hold an idle. Leave the HSN at factory settings for now.

Well, if you have not completed all your break in steps, keep following the manual's instructions. Also, leave your glow ignitor on the plug, even after it starts, and see if that helps. Leave it on for about a minute. This allows the motor to warm up and free itself of needing the glow ignitor to keep the plug hot.

If that helps, then great. If not, post back. We'll get you going. First timers and breaking in motors are a tough combination.

Good luck!

It seems alot of people are getting savys for xmas,
I did, and had the same issue.
Manually move the throttle servo so its 1/4 out, if it still does the same add more than 1/4 until it will run without the aid of the rotostart. Once it is going, increase the throttle to 1/2 or higher for about 10-15 seconds and remove the starter half way through this. It will heat the engine up and it will not die on you! Once it reaches a steady idle your good to go from there.
The engine is new, so its tight and theres alot of compression so its no suprise that it doesn't like to keep running, but after the first tank it will start pretty easy.

Double check the idle gap as per Sweetdiesel, but also, as kurt said, sometimes these motors need to be coaxed through the first tank. By about the third tank, if you rtemps are getting up to normal, the engine will start to respond to throttle inputs and idle consistently. After that it gets to be a matter of working the tune a bit at a time.

Thats what mine is starting to do, the temp is creeping up to 230F now, this is after 3 tanks.
