Club card? Would you have to pay for it? Or would it be like the grocery store where everyone signs up for the savings. Just offer everyone the lowest price you can and if they are good enough.. the word would be spread. And it couldn't hurt to have and additional discount depending on the grand total, or offer additional parts? Personally, I go to hobby shops, magazines to see how much stuff costs, and then I go to the internet.
Especially for a high $$ purchase when I don't want to pay taxes. But I do that with everything.

I don't know if its possible, since they seem to compete, but try being a distributor for both Great Planes, and Horizon Hobby products. Its rare to see a shop that carries both to any extent. Carry a mix of products, ie top flight kits from the likes of Mugen, Kyosho, Associated, Losi, Xray OFNA, etc. But also keep the RTRs around too. The more you are willing to keep in stock the more you can sell. Any time you don't have something in stock, you just lost business nowadays, because people can jump online and get it shipped pretty quick.

Another thing would be to offer a percentage off based on money spent. Nitrohouse in California does this. Say 10% off on 50 or more, and 15 off on 100 or something like that.

Get a good website set up (Tower=good, Nitrohouse=no good), so we can all order from you since the drive for me from AZ is a little far). By being online you can move a higher volume of parts which will allow you to lower prices. And its a chain reaction, because once you lower prices you will get even more business still. I would say, as much as possible, surf the web, and just sell things for a buck cheaper than you can find anywhere else (or maybe 5-10 dollars on expensive items). That little bit will ensure the business keeps rolling in. Since you are in one corner of the country, instead of centralized, see if you can work out a good bulk shipping deal so it won't be expensive to ship to largely populated states like California, and Florida.

My local hobby store, well has no discounts, late as hell on parts, In no rush to help anyone, Orders the wrong parts alot, Hires people that know nothing about anything, BUT, they have a great track! lol My point, just be good to your customers and have as many popular parts in stock as possible and have a good track! lol The track alone brings them back. Even if they would rather go else where.

the local hobby shop here offers a card for your keychain like the grocery store and for every 100.00 dollors u spend they give you a 5.00 gift certificate and there prices are not much higher than tower I go there at least 4 times a week its like two minutes from my house but have talked to people who drive 30-40 minutes just because prices are lower than lhs on there side of town I say anything that gets people in the door works but word of mouth and ur reputation to help people are the best results no matter what u charge or give away. thats what keeps me going back.

The card idea seems more like a PITA to me. I do like the 5% off using C/C and 10% for using cash idea :) Just my .02.

Now I wonder if RushRC gives 10% off for cash :ponder2:

the hobby shop here where i live has a whacked out owner.,thinks that he only needs to carry what he likes and every time i go in i look at the rack for say savage parts ,you could cover the area with a checker board ,
but then its a radio shack dealer ,i don't think he believes in impulse buying theory at all ,you go in there is a XXX-nt (which is his)a megatech on road (which is his) a nitro rustler and a Tmaxx that's it
Anyway if i ever get up your way Extreme i will most certainly stop in sounds like a killer shop you got there

My LHS only sales one type of Glow plug and they sale for 25.00 each. Now I'm no expert but it sounds a bit fishy to me after seeing tons of Glow plugs sale around the net for 3.00 - 6.00 but again I'm no expert.

Sorry about the some what off topic reply, but got to thinking about my LHS after reading some replys here.

Are you sure that isn't like for four of them.

If that's only for one, I'd find another hobby shop.

I'm pretty sure that is for one.

That is the only Hobby shop in a 40 mile radious of me....I have to drive 20 miles one way just to get there my self. It's cool though, I spend a ton of time in Dallas and have high speed internet  I'm hoping to see Bruce (RushRC) this Saturday :fingures crossed:

Bruce (Rush RC) will do you good. As far as 25.00 for a GP?!? Hmmmm, something is not right with that owner!
