Ok so i have 2 jatos, 1 savage 25. My brother has a Revo with a RB 323TM (which now wheelies thru second gear. He was dissapointed in the revo performance when he bought it , thats why he put the RB motor in it now he's beyond happy. What I'm looking to do is get something with alot more power then the savage , but has the handling of the revo. WITHOUT GETTING A REVO. My brother and i cannot race the exact same trucks lol.

So my 2 choices are... Team Losi LST2 and the HPI Hellfire. Both are same price. I just wanted to opinions from you guys.

We like to race on BMX tracks. The revo just flies over table tops and doubles like nothing and handles so well. My jatos handle ok. Running holeshots is the only way i can get traction and even then they dont weigh enuff to steer well. We ran for 4hours on saturday with NO broken parts.

i would go with hpi hellfire if i was u mate

I've heard some bad stuff out the lst2 but not with the hellfire

just me 2cents

i think others would i agree with me at the end of the day its YOUR choice

Just wondering, isn't the Hellfire considered a 1/8th truggy?

Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I'd either consider a Revo (yeah, I know you said you don't want to have the same truck), a Savage X or, really, just tricking the poop out of your current Savage! As for the Revo, why not get one of the 3.3's, put some RPM arms on it, add the FOC and close-ratio gearing and smoke his ass like a cheap cigar? My brother and I both have the Savage 4.6. Mine has the Wasp .28 in it and I tinkered with the gearing, added a THS pipe and a digital throttle servo, along with a few other things and end up beating him like a red-headed step child 8 out of 10 times! The fun we have is, seeing who can make their Savage better than the other!

Personally, I think it would be more fun to get the same truck as your brother and see what you can do to beat his, but that's just my opinion.

Frankly, I don't know enough about the LST2 to give you an opinion, so I'll leave that to folks that know more about it.

Between the two, I'd go with the Hellfire. But as MW said, you may want to think about going with a Revo 3.3.

MW, not sure if its officially considered one, but if its not it should be IMO. Its got the center diff and everything, I'd consider it a truggy.

Yeah, that's why I asked the question. What I do know, though, is that .18SS that comes with it is a wicked little mill, though!

ya the 4.6ko is a .28ci.

anyway...i dont know much about the differences between the types of power and tuneabilty or them, but i found a used revo with an O.S. .18 on....it has alot of other aftermarket parts including the stock 2.5r for $375, better than $600 for hellfire. sound good ? price is somewhat of a factor...but just how much power does a revo need before its uncontrollable.

I know that a .23 is obviously bigger than an .18 but are there any BIG differences between RB concepts and O.S. ?

Whoops! You're right, my mistake! Sorry, just got shelled like a Taliban terrorist at a home owners association meeting, so I'm putting the flames out with my good friend, Budweiser!

I have the .18TM in my Revo, and I have to say, the thing is a beast! I have no personal experience with the RB mill, but in conversations I've had with Revo Rancher, that thing is as close to out-of-control as you can get! I'd venture a guess that you could take him with the OS and the right gearing. I run FOC, close-ratio with 16/36 and I can pull the front end up almost at will. With the 15/38 gearing, I could not keep the front end down at all!

The Revo 3.3 is nice because they extended the wheelbase, making it less likely to wheelie, which means you have more control. It will also handle better than a regular Revo. The 3.3 will have plenty of power, maybe not as much as the .23 tho.

Can't tell ya much about those engines, heard nothing but good things about both of em.

Man, it was brutal, but it's a subject for a whole other thread!

As for the 3.3, I saw one race and I have to say, that thing ran like a raped ape, and it was in a traditional Revo, not the newer chassis!

If you don't want a revo, go with a MGT or an LST.

The hellfire is easy to destroy. I saw a guy try to bash one at a BMX track a few months back. After about 2 wrecks, his day was over. Mangled tower, busted arms, busted shocks, busted hinge pin blocks (aluminum).

I've seen the LST run and it's handling is impressive. It can take a decent beating as well.

I suggested the MGT because I've read so many people liking theirs and I've downloaded some pretty nasty vids that the MGT made it through.

Own

TMAXX 2.5
MGT 21
LST
SAVAGE 25

Best handling= LST & MGT Tie
Most Durable= Savage
Easiest to wrench=MGT
Best Speed= LST
Best overall=not sure

well i chose neither...lol sorry..i found a revo on ebay with an OS .18 , extra set of wheels&tires (crimefighters) the original motor, extra A-arm and springs, along with the rpm parts already on it and 2 bodies for $405 total w/s&h guess i can't beat that. :D

Go with the Revo!!!

If you break it, ya can bum parts off your brother! :hehe:

EGG-ZACTLY!!!
I always figure a used rig will need a new mill and servos at least, and bid as though I need to replace em anyway...if they are still good it's abonus....

Why buy a new truck when you got a savage. savages are slow stock but they can be sup-up to go as fast or allot fast than a revo.

You should get a new engine like a picco .28 or some kind of a .32 engine get a 3 speed, 20t clutch bell, 47t spure gear or as small as you can find , 40s tire, high toque servo.

racer savage can still be bashed.

handling is all in the tires and rims and servos

with 40s tires the savage will handle like a revo.

actually now that i put hard solid foam in my tires, the things literally turns like it had 4 wheel steering. I've had a few people ask that, i can turn full speed and it wont flip and turns sharper, or if I'm at medium speed and turn, i can turn around a brick. its weird looking
