Hi, I'm a newbie to the nitro R/C world. I just bought a T-Maxx 2 weeks ago. Now...just about everyone that sees it wants one! So far, I have 4 or 5 guys that want to get a nitro R/C right now. I know I'm a newb, but I do a lot of reading, and it seems to me that Stadium trucks might be the way to go for us. I'm thinking the T-Maxx's may be a little too frustrating for some of the others guys, the new 2.5's are a real pain to tune IMO, and they also break parts pretty easily. Also...if we get a group of guys racing around, I think it would be more fun to have something that takes turns a little better than a monster truck.

So far...the popular choice is looking like the HPI RTR Nitro RS4 MT2. The guys all seem to like the idea of 4wd, but that is not a "must have". My first though was the RC10GT, after reading all the good press on it. But, all of the guys definately want an electric start, so that leaves the RC10GT out. The other truck we are considering is the Traxxas Nitro Rustler. It is 2wd, but we can live with that...but the main thing that bothers me about that truck is tuning the 2.5. Is the HPI engine easier to tune than the TRX 2.5?

Also...what about performance, and durability differences between these 2 trucks? Any other trucks we should be considering?

Thanks for any help you can give us, we are hoping to get together and place a big order within a week. One other thing, anyone know of anyplace that would give a decent discount on a 4 or 5 truck purchase? Thanks!

Chad

well in performace i have a HPI NMT1 which i dont know the diff butn i like 4wd better then 2wd it hadles better on all surfaces... so i would say got with the HPI NMT2...and look at towerhobbies.com for some discounts

It will be tough to find any place to give you a discount on only 4 or 5. With internet shopping as an option these days, pricing is pretty dang competetive as it is. Call around and ask, ya never know though, you could get lucky!
In my opinion, I would go with the HPI....it's got the electric start, 4wd, and their new T-15 engine (which for newbies, would probably be easier to tune than the 2.5). For 4 or 5 beginners I think you all would have a blast racing those around.

Your LHS will give you a disocunt if you ask. That is enough of a profit for them when you and your friends come in and buy all the other stuff they need. Be nice, and they'll take care of you.

sounds like fun

i did the exact same senerio (i know I'm a crappy speller)
i got a maxx, they all picked their chins up off the side walk and headed for the lhs
now we got 2 tmaxxes 1 sportmaxx 1 mt2 and a rc10gt its mayhame. and the neighbors just love the sound of 5 nitros zipping around at "uncanny speeds that are dangerous to the whole neighborhood' as she says (the goofy lady i got stuck with as a neighbor)

i own a nitro mt 1 and it is pretty much exackly the same as the mt 2, it is great on handaling and it climbes almost as good as a monster truck it is pretty fast i love the 4weel drive. id say go mt2.
