Howdy all, I need a motor for my t maxx. I have a picco .26 max I pulled, it has never run right. Its been sealed, it needs a new carb body. I thought about buying another one but I am thinking something else. I really dont want to spend over $200, can I get a o.s for that or less, or do some of you gurus reccomend something else.

I need a motor for my 4908 t maxx, I want to stay below $200, & would like something other than a picco, I have one. What do the gurus have to suggest. O.S .18-.21, ????
Brian

OS .18 is your cheapest option for a quality engine. Pretty big step down in performance from a picco though. I'd just fix the picco if I was in this situation.

I agree, if you look at #2 in the picture, it is a good idea to seal the picco carb at this point all the way around. When the carb warms up it will sometimes leak right where the aluminum cap is pressed into the composite body, it does not come apart so the seal is a topical application. Threebond 1211 is an excellent sealant because it is 100% fuel proof, I recommend that instead of the regular ATV sealant which is not "nitro" proof.

As far as I can recall the O.S. engines are well built.

yeah i would have to agree just to fix that one.....sealants cheaper than a new engine and picco reddots are awesome

If you want a good .26 engine get a losi m26ss. I got one on my mgt and it rides wheelies. it will start first pull and its only 125 bucks and 50 to rebuild. i got about 4 gallons through it and it still starts super easy even in the winter.

The t-maxx won't accept a true big block without many more parts.

The OS18TM is an ok engine, but you may be hard pressed to find it these days. The only easily obtained OS 18's are the CVR and TZ. Neither of which will drop right in.

Maybe get the TRX3.3 or dynamite .19 ($95 in cart).

Olds97, do you have any experiance with this dynamite .19. Or perhaps does anyone know where I could obtain a complete carb for my .26 picco. The sleve on the neck came off. All I have found was the carb body for $60....
Brian

I've only seen some vids on youtube and it seems close to what the 3.3 puts out, but if it's like all other dynamites, it will have a much more stable tune than anything traxxas gives you.

How big is your carb neck? This one is listed at 15mm:

$20, whole carb for a BB OFNA engine.

14mm:

Not sure of the size, but $14 shipped:

Could ask the seller for some dimensions.

The carb neck on my picco is. 470 or11.4 mm. Does anyone know what the dimensions are on a traxxas 3.3 carb.

Iv got the .18 TM tht I blew up and didn't want to spend 120$ on new piston and sleeve and stuff but other than that everything is there only problem is the motor was discontinued your best bet is to just go back to the 3.3 at only $140 thts ur cheapest way out
