I have a vorteks or granite that I want to upgrade motor/esc . I got a hobbywing 10bl120 w/4000kv motor as a gift. Everything is stock 3s electronics. I could go to 2s or find out proper spur and pinion combo. They are both used for bashing and my dog to chase

I'm not sure of a question. A 3652 4000kv motor, like all motors, will have limitations. A lighter weight 4wd platform will be right at home with that motor and 2S battery. Factor in some heavy tires, 3S LiPo battery, long runtimes, and very resistant terrain... 😓🥵 I will use speed calcs to compare different setups to get a better understanding as to what to expect. Plug in the numbers and see if it is even possible to reach a certain gearing you're after.

Arrma has 2wd and 4wd Vorteks. Just note that both platforms come with 3660 size motors in stock form. With only a few pieces of the puzzle to go by... I'm going with gearing, gearing, and gearing. My final answer.

Or is it a 3665 motor?
Not sure if the extra length would cause any problem but it would be fast and have more power than a 3660 if geared right I think. 🤔😍

Better still, put that all in a box and mail it to me so I can experiment with it... for science. 😉👍😁

It is 3660 and 4wd Vorteks

If you want to get technical about this, you can use a roll out calculator. You can input different ratios, tire sizes, kv motors... and get theoretical speeds as well as an idea of how a ratio may be under or over an ideal roll-out of 1:1. thats what I shoot for. Then experiment if you want.

I am not sure what ratios your Vorteks uses tho.

I do not know. Have you looked at anyone doing speed runs with this platform. I am sure they will know.

Arrma forum would be a good place for info.

Not sure how Arrma customer service might be with info like this but you can fire an email to ask.

Thanks I found some information to start with. It will be alot of testing. I live in Alberta so it is -18 right now. I know spur is 57 and pinion is 20 stock so I am going to look at what I have for parts

Jennysrc.com should be able to help you but do be careful. I have heard, can't confirm, the Arrma pinion gears don't fit on other motors. I urge you to ask others about this before stocking up.
Robinson Racing is another great source of gears. 👍

Thanks I have from 15 to 22 pinion gears so I started at 15 if anything I will go smaller if needed
