I heard that the O.S. VZ-b V spec engine is awsome for about $300. Can anyone verify this for me or give me some advice on a great engine with as much power as possible?
Thanks

All around is still too vague. do you want to race in the future? If so the anything over a .21 will not be race legal. If you don't care then why not try a big block engine. Like a sirio 27, a Picco/Wasp/Werks 26 or even a Fantom 27 or is it 28? Anyways all can be found for a decent price. Maybe a bit more than your budget.

Like RCNitro tested the V-Spec kills them all. Sirio 27, Werks/Picco/Wasp.26, and most other buggy engines. I can tell you at our tight technical track the V-Spec rocks them C5, Ws-7, Nova 421B, etc. Get the right tires for your track and a good suspension set-up and you'll walk'em save a JP mod or other modded .21's. The engine has an awesome bottom-end and top with good throttle response. Like RCNitro said you must apply the throttle judisciously or all you get is wheel spin or atleast way to much speed coming out of corners. You can't go wrong getting the V-Spec. Like I posted before I've run a Wasp .26 in my K3 before the V-Spec and there is no comparison the V-Spec is in different class. Our track WWW.Racetech.bc.ca some videos on the track www.teamkaos.ca

second vote for the V-spec owns all. i can walk away from every other car at my track. buggies, MTs, stadium trucks, it doesn't matter. and thats with just the 8mm restrictor in. our final race is in 1.5 weeks and I'm thinking about pulling the restrictor all together just for a final show and to really get everyones goat. its not the fastest line, but the V-spec lets me powerdrift through every turn on the course if i want.

I have a VZB (non V-spec) and it is awsome, so I can only imagine the V-Spec. Thinking about getting one, and would suggest an OS to anyone. Race, or bash Os engines are easy to tune, reliable, and powerfull. Someone on anothe thread said that Fullthottlehobbies.com has them on special for $250 if you call them this month.

that was me, i almost bought a 2nd one for my truggy in progress. until i found a NIB Top .28 on ebay for 195. i figured the extra torque would be better for the big truck tires, even if it can't rev like the V-spec. for a buggy, the V-spec would be my #2 choice, right behind a modded V-spec.

Thanks you guys for the input. I thinkk I will try racing in the future so I'll go with the V-spec. Thanks again.

hmm sounds like a prime replacement 4 the hyper 8, i will say though just gettin back into this that the hyper has been easy 2 figure out and get runnin well. granted i run at a fairly high spd track and there's far more powerful motors that have a lil bit of snap on me comin out but i can hold my own most of the time. and that was my objective, just go and have fun...so what where i finish, granted outrunnin (or outdrivin if u will) some1 w/more bread in it is always nice. hehe

hehe, I'm that guy with more bread that gets outdriven. but i have fun doing it, and as my skills progress my setup is more than capable of adapting to my needs.

Yeah, it's always great when you beat a guy that can't drive! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

heh, i bet you could get me with stadium trucks, but i doubt it with the buggy. 4wd seems to suit my driving style better, there are only 1-2 faster buggy guys at my track. 1 is a hyper 7 pro (unknown motor), 2nd is a mbx-5 with a 24.7 in it. both guys have been racing at least all summer probibly longer but i wasn't there to see. i only started halfway through this year, and am already faster than most guys who have been doing it longer. but at any rate, its fun for everyone.

interestin...while it hasnt been long, i think i'd retain what i did b4 in that i seen to adapt better to 2wd than 4

but i will say a good runnin engine thats easy 2 tune, not finicky or special needs, good on gas and runs cool and has decent life and 'rebuildablity'. thats a winner.
