I can't wait to see her running again! 😎
WE WANT VIDS!!! 🤣
I can't wait to get her running again too, I hope it will have been worth the work and wait she'll also be getting her Serena name back and my Felony will be renamed to Korrina like the gym leader from Pokemon. We'll see what i can do about making videos next year.

Major update, I have rebuilt this car and put in a new Spektrum SR6200A receiver and put back the Hobbywing Max 6 G1\4985 1,650KV combo. Still have to bind the new receiver to my DX6C. Put in my new Cobra Racing diffs with all new fluids 500k front and 200k rear similar to a new V2 XO-1.

Here she is after todays rebuild.

Another update, I got my new stock 1717 1,650kv Traxxas\Castle "Big Block" in today for my XO-1 now awaiting a new ESC. I'm thinking either buying a stock ESC then unlocking and jailbreaking it or getting a new Castle Cobra 8 ESC. I'm not looking to break any records or i just want a mostly stock or lightly modified but mostly reliable XO-1 since i want to put my focus on my Felony or buying and building a future Limitless.

Here's the new motor.

She's almost complete again, This morning i setup and bound my new Christmas SR6200A receiver to my DX6C with my old Max 6 G1. Now i just need a new ESC again either a stock unlocked and jailbroken Mamba Monster 2 or the new Cobra 8.

I bet most ppl would recommend the Castle system. Not sure which is the better Castle of the 2 you mentioned though. 👍

They sure would, The Hobbywing i initially had was going to be a placeholder for a new Castle system down the road. I think if i wanted a good all around ESC that works well with my new motor and has a upgrade path to a new 1717 sensored motor the same that's in my Felony. It would either be the Cobra 8 or the MMX8s which both are nearly the same price but with Cobra you have an all new 32-bit dual core processer vs the older 8-bit processer that all the older Castle ESC's use.

Here's a video discussing the Cobra 8.

The only reason i would want the stock ESC since it's cheaper than the C8 or MMX8s and mainly to have a mostly stock but improved XO-1.

I have a castle MMX also HW MAX 6 in Tekno trucks. The max 6 hasn't had any issues but my castle had to go back for warranty because it quit working. But before they would accept it back, they made me cut the on/off switch off and connect the wires together, just to prove it was broken. They didn't bother to fix that and just returned it to me after they had to reprogram it. Not cool.

I've had a couple Castle systems now for a few years a Copperhead 10\1415 2,400kv combo in my Hoss and a Mamba Monster X 8s\1717 1,650kv combo in my Felony which both have been awesome never had any issues with them. Mainly started to get Castle setups in my Speedrun cars like my Felony and XO-1 since they will eventually go speedrunning also since Hobbywing and Spektrum ESC's are known to have brownout\cutout issues when there are high amp draws. Hobbywing is great for bashers and competition racing but Castle is the status quo for high performance applications like Speedrunning and Drag Racing. Just my thoughts.

Another update, Today i got my girl Serena the XO-1 up and running for real she now has a Mamba Monster X 8s taken out of my Felony known as Korrina paired with the brand new stock motor i bought last week. that came in the mail yesterday i also got my DX6C bound to a brand new SR6200A receiver i got last Christmas.

Here she is.

I plan to finish setting her this afternoon and i might also give her a test run later this afternoon.

If you want more info check out my build showcase here.

Today was disappointing, First time out with my freshly rebuilt XO-1 it broke two diff outputs front and rear on the new Cobra racing diffs both on the right side once i started driving it.

I give these diff one star at least for this application. I might go back to stock XO-1 diffs or buy some hardened internals from GPM. Let me know what you think i should do. I'm kinda bummed about this but WTH buy $24 a piece diffs for your $750+ 6S XO-1 and expect them to work better than stock. I guess it was bound to happen. Also the AVC was acting weird it was self steering and not going straight so the steering might need to be reversed and the receiver re bound to the radio.

Thats disappointing. If there are hardened drive parts, I'd give them a try! 👍

If the outdrives are similar in design to Arrma 6s, the RamJam 4140 outdrives are indestructible. I have a full set on my Talion. Input & output drives

I have found that the Arrma 6s outdrives & I think Tekno & a few other's, Hobao & Corally, all are within just a few 0.001" of each other & ppl exchange them. So- if the XO-1 are dimensionally similar to any of these- check out RamJam 4140 ones. I've enterchanged Corally, Tekno, & Hobao inputs & dogbones for custom builds on Arrma platforms.

I might in the future but i took the diffs out of my Hoss since the Cobra racing diffs are pretty much identical to the Hoss\Slash\Rustler\Jato\Stampede 4x4 diffs. So i took the internals out of my Hoss diffs and am going to try them in the Cobra housings.

The XO-1 originally used Revo\E-Maxx\E-Revo 1.0 style diffs but the one i bought from CR were Slash 4x4 Based.

I took apart my Hoss diffs and they are almost identical to the CR ones so for now i'll use my Hoss internals but eventually i'll build up a good set of Revo diffs for my car.

Yikes! Right side failure both FR & RR. How measures the XO-1 weight balance FR/RR and Rt/Lft? Looks like a right side bias on weight. Possibly loading the chassis right side drive components a contributing factor to failure? How did it track with low power (~50% THR) calibration/test runs?

Regarding the AVC is the receiver securely mounted to prevent movement? Isolated from vibration? Any rcvr movement will affect and perhaps introduce phantom steering movements. Or perhaps the right-side impending failure of components was introducing unwanted harmonics to the chassis? Just a couple of thoughts.

Certain you'll get 'er sorted out and be pushing out good numbers soonest. Good luck. Hang in there. -AC

Thanks for the kind words, With my other Traxxas trucks running stock diffs i've never had the outputs break the way the CR diffs did not even the stock
XO-1 diffs. But now i'm going to try the diff internals from my old Hoss and see if it'll get through a full run without failure i was also running 500k and 200k front and rear fluids. Since the brand new V2 XO-1 run 500k front and 100k rear fluids and they seem to handle a lot better. I did securely mount the AVC receiver with 3M tape and tried to mount it as straight as possible but i might also try reversing my steering and rebinding it.

How's it going today everyone? Last night and this morning i finally got my XO-1 all back together and my Dad also found my Red body that blew away from our driveway when i left outside. I also got the AVC sorted out and took her for a short test run she now launches super straight last night i added some Arrma 1\8 body clips with clip holders.

I'm super happy now that i got her running almost the way i want. Also the way i fixed the AVC was reversing the servo direction then rebinding it and recalibrating it to my DX6C. And it worked.

How's it going everyone? Good afternoon i just got done running my XO-1 Serena for the first time and it's her first successful run in a long time. She handled great just like a V2 even though it was 35 - 40 Degrees F outside. I had fun and i also got to speed test her.

Nice job sticking with the repairs and getting great results!!! 😎😁👍

Thanks for the kind words, It didn't break with the Hoss diff internals just like as i thought the Cobra racing internals are 💩💩 s**t at least for my application but i was able to reuse the aluminum housings. Also 55mph on 6s with close to stock gearing and an MMX8s she also stayed super straight with both the new diff fluids and the AVC on my Spektrum radio and that it's setup properly. If you're wondering i just had to reverse my servo then rebind and recalibrate the receiver and boom it worked beautifully.
