My Savage and my buggy are both down. I seem to be breaking stuff left and right.
I'm thinking of getting a helicopter to keep me busy. I dont want anymore cars or trucks. Anyone have a helicopter and if so what do you recommend for a beginner?

I recommend you talk with Error401. He has a couple and has great experience in that area to share.

If you'r prone to breaking stuff I don't think I'd reccomend getting a heli. You'll break stuff alot learing to fly.

How about trying electric??

Tap dancing LOL. Actually, I wouldnt mind learning to do that. Chicks dig it.

I dont mind breaking stuff. I just need something else to keep me occupied while I wait for parts.
I really hate electric stuff. I like the sound of a nitro motor and also the way it feels.
I hear there is a simulation program for the heli that comes with a radio also. The guy at my LHS said its a good way to learn before you invest your hard earned money.

SkyMaxx

Ill talk to Error401 about it. Those helis are looking really tempting. A little pricey though and thats just to start

Yes it is a flight simulator for your computer. Its almost like flying the real thing. Flying a heli is real difficult for the beginner. It takes alot of skill. Get the simulator, it will save you money big time.

they have one at the lhs with servos and motor (used/no radio) for $100 I am almost tempted to pick it up for the small servos, and the engine.

My first was a helicopter. You haven't seen anything until you've fully experienced crashing one.

Hehe, A lot of my friends come over, and see my nitro. The they say

"I had a (insert flying r/c here) once, it lasted two flights, then I crashed it."

If you want to get into flying anything I highly suggest you find alocal feild. A lot of people out their don't mind hooking their controller to the trainer port, and watching you fly.

If you make a bad mistake 9 out of 10 times they can correct it before it hits the ground. A great way to learn, and meet some new r/c addicts. Beats training yourself at the cost of a vehicle per crash.

For flying anything I recommend the Realflight 2 PC simulator. It has planes, helis, gliders, etc. It comes with a realistic dummy transmitter that works through the usb port. It is amazingly realistic, and helped me big with my planes. You will be suprized how hard it is to fly a heli.

I remember the old days before RTR kits and computer sims. It sucked.

We got a guy up here in humboldt county that is in the top 10 of the country. I will bring my camera next time i catch him practicing. The arcobatics you can acheive with a helicopter is nothing short of amazing. I have watched him a few times for 15-20 minute routines and my mouth has always been on the ground. Some fun stuff to watch that's for sure. One of my favorite tricks he does is he flies it upside down and gets blades about a quarter inch off the ground (at least it seems that close) as to tempt fate because if one of the rotars hits the ground the helicopter explodes pretty much. Anyways good luck and I hope you are wealthy as his copters are are very expensive. I asked him what I was looking at to get started and he said to really get started right look anywhere from 2-3K

What about that new RC simulator they put out. Where you can dirve alot of diffrent variations of cars from on road to off road, and you can't break things on it, lol. Unless your computer was to crash.
