Hi all,

Just signed up to the forum, looks like a great place to get tips on the hobby.
I got myself two rc buggies on in 1:10 another in 1:8.
Both are by GIO. Kinda got lucky, i work for the company and now we are going to be expanding a bit into RC world. Since I'm the only one in the office who has interest in the hobby i got the job of testing the limits on the new product that we get. I think its a dream job rightnow.

So here it goes:

I'm having fun so far... it took me a while and few trips to the hobby store to get the 1:8 going, had problems with tuning the engine. Now it runs, but keep heaving the same problem over and over.
Once it gets hot, when i apply throttle it will get of the line fast will continue going, then if i release throttle (for example in a turn) and then press on it again it starts bogging, sounds like it starts to choke. If i release the throttle again push on breaks wait till RPM drop to idle then it continues on fine until i release the throttle. If i keep pushing the throttle further and further, it chokes.

I do not have a heat gun to test the temperature, but i did the "spit" test, the drop boils of in 1-3 seconds. I know its inaccurate but thats the closest thing right now i have to test the temp.

The 1:10 i'm still doing the run in process, but then i started playing with the carb settings and screwed everything up..the thing wouldn't start. So i started adjusting the carb going by every manual i could lookup on-line. So far i got the engine running; sometimes it would cut off as soon as i remove the igniter, sometimes its fine. but at least i got it "off the ground". Oh, hen i start applying throttle, there is allot of splatter coming out of exhaust pipe, does it mean the settings are to rich?

If anyone has any advise on how to tune up the 1:8 so it doesn't start choking at higher speeds, i would appreciate it greatly.

Any advise would be great.

Here are some more pics of the buggies. Tomorrow i will post the pics for the new 1:5 Truggy i got packed in my trunk, will be breaking it out tomorrow, the thing looks mean, but thats tomorrow.

if she's bogging when you apply the throttle I suspect it could be the high speed needle. I"ve only ever had bogging at low speed where letting it idle for a period of time loads the carb with fuel, punching the throttle bugs the engine and sometimes stalls it.

lean out your high speed needle 1/8th a turn, run the buggy up and down the street a few times and see what happens.

Actually, it sounds like it may be too lean on the HSN and possibly the LSN. The high idle, then stall when you hit the gas is usually indicative of a lean mix. Buggies are hard to get tuned right for me due to their power/weight ratio. Kind of like my jato. Almost any engine can throw them around effortlessly even with a bad tune. Tuning a heavier MT for me is easier as the weight of the rig puts more load on the engine and lets you hear/see it better for tune.

I wish 1/10 4wd nitro buggies were more readily available. The strength of a buggy, but easier on gas and noise.

The 1:8 has Vertex 21 written on its side.

The manuals for the buggies did not specify what brand engines are mounted on them.
The little guy has 15cxp engine.

Oh, and one more thing...i drove the 1:8 on the asphalt parking lot for a while...doing some doughnuts, now only rear left side tire is almost bald...is it beacause the engine mounted on that side or i have been doing to many left hand turns?

I can proudly say, i think i got my Vertex 21 tuned on the 1:8 buggy. :D
It starts, no problem, idled non stop through the whole tank, does not stall when i apply the brakes, does not bog when i apply throttle, keeps accelerating. Tomorrow will take it to the park to see how everything works on the ground. It took me over an hour playing with the settings, the engine tunning flow chart was very helpful (thanks!!!).
