After alot of studying and wanting a 1/8 buggy that is designed decently, I found what I want and ordered it.
I was looking for a kit, but they seem to be scarce and over priced compared to the RTR setups.
I went with the Ofna Hyper 7 PBS RTR,,and I know I should upgrade the transmitter and servos, I already have this one in mind,,I'd like some thoughts on it.

Anyway, I have a question,

Will this RTR come with the same instructions as a kit does?

I want to tear it down and build it back to make sure ALL is as it should be, before I even fire it up. If there are no intructions,,I still will,,but I'm curious as to if they still come with the assembly instructions even though they are pre-assembled.

Thanks

Most likely. I bought an LX Comp and it shows you complete tear down/build up. It even tells you how to oil your shocks. So no worrys!

Yes it will come with a break down instructions..
Make sure you use blue locktite on all metal to metal screws.
Don't forget to locktite the set screws on the drive cups..

thanks guys,
And Zandor, I'm a Harley mechanic,,I think harley's were the machines that created the need for loctite, ;)

Thanks for the info

Congrats on the new purchase! Ya should be happy with the Hyper 7. Sounds like ya got the bug!! Let us know when ya get it!

MAN, Awesome choice on a 1/8 Buggy!!!!! Man me and you must think alike because I was going to get that buggy before getting my mbx-5, and I am running that radio right now and i LOVE IT. Too many reasons to list. I definitally recommend it. Congrats!

Well, congratulations!

First, the stock transmitter is not that bad to learn with. Upgrading the servos (keep the old ones for track spares) would more of a priority until you get confident with the rig and finish a good break in. If it was me, I would also get the MX-3 S radio over the MX-3 because of the synth capable feature. Less glitches and you can change channels very easily. (if you are at the track) JMO

For servos, none of the ones tower listed as popular other purchases for buyers of that radio are worth it. Get at least the Hitec 645. It is beefy enough to last on a buggy.

The PCR is the RTR model and it came with a complete manual of how it goes together. It really is one of the better manuals I have seen.

What fuel do you plan to use?

I don't have a clue as to which fuel to run, all I'm aware of is the %nitro and %lubricant.
I'm open to all suggestions.

I've watched about 2 hours of videos on this buggy and I'm amazed at how much abuse they can take, it's totally unreal :)

Thanks

Congrats on the bug dude. I run 20/14(nitro%/oil%). 20% seems to be the average percentage of nitro most peope run.

I agree, Use 20% or 25% if you can find Byrons 2500. I prefer Byrons for my .21 and bigger motors. Don't ask why, I just like how it runs.

thanks for the info guys,

now a few more questions ,,

About how much time can I expect on average per tank of fuel after break-in, and
what are the outside air temp limitations?
I plan on getting a temp reader for the engine when I order the fuel, and it should run around 220 deg, right?

I've built alot of 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines from weed eaters to a 500 c.i. Caddy engine, but this concept of a tapered cylinder blows me away,,lol.

I understand the reasoning, I just never heard of the concept. These little nitro engines are intrigueing at the very least, I can hardly wait to see the insides of mine(by choice, not from over revving),,lol

Thanks again folks :)

Run times? Forever, if you keep refueling the tank before it runs out! :jk:

About 10-15-20 minutes, but there are sooo many variables, too.

Short of the extremes, you can get running the nitros in most conditions. What do you have planned??? Glacier running?!?!

After break-in about 20 minutes of normal running. During break-in, about 8 minutes is what I've got outta my 145 cc tank because half the fuel goes out the exaust!

lol,,,no glacier running , not in Mississippi anyway,,lmao

Just pure curiosity :)

But it does get quite hot here, like 95-100+

If you run into trouble with the rebuild, try www.RCdocuments.com
Should have a breakdown for you.

Rebuild?

Didn't you say that you were going to break down the rtr and rebuild it?

Thats why I work here... :)

I see, sorry, I misunderstood, I thought you meant rebuilding the engine,,I mis-worded earlier, I should have said "reassemble" :)
And thanks for the resource.

Seems like a very helpful group of people here, glad I ran across RCNT :)
