Obviously, your build strikes a chord with me. I have a soft spot for the Sand Scorcher, which is what I started out with around 1981.

It's a perfect RC car.

Even though the steering is goofy, the chassis is wibbly-wobbly, the body is hard to paint and super fragile - it looks great and proves that scale cars could also be radio controlled AND work on dirt. I love this car.

I also owned a Super Champ and a Rough Rider. But the Sand Scorcher is more charasmatic in my opinion.

It would make perfect sense to add a Kyosho Scorpion to the retro side of my collection, which everyone tells me is far superior to drive.

That I may actually use as a fun rig to use with the kids, whereas the Scorcher is obviously a shelf queen! 😅
