No. This can't be happening. they are my idols!!! I've been watching them since I was in elementary school! Does anybody have 41 billion dollars lying around???
Apparently THEY had $41BILLION dollars and managed to blow it!!!
The numbers involved in some of these failed companies are just staggering!

This is what happens when you squander tons of cash, and carve yourself out as a premium subscription channel. One good show can't keep a channel afloat.
I'm entertained by Vice Grip Garage and other "low" budget utube type shows.
I enjoy looking at the $3.4m resitfied Caddilac whatever's that Leno is building and the supercars ARE super sexy... BUT
In my world, my truck is going to get fixed, then run thru the woods until I break it again. My cars get parked in parking lots where other cars will be within door hitting proximity...
My world doesn't allow for $18k paint and chrome frames with 24 karat disc brakes.
Its fun to watch what ppl do when companies like Edelbrock hand them a blank check but thats never happened to me...
Another trend I see is the push from govt to regulate hot rods by way of emmission control. Further discouraging late model hotrodding are all the computer incompatabilities.
The Envoy is the LAST CAN "obd" car I will EVER build!
Its like the manufacturers want us to go to the races and pay $250/ticket to watch cars THAT WE CAN NEVER OWN go in a circle.
Today, they want us to buy the fastest car THEY can build.
I'm not into that at all.

I'm not super surprised to hear this news about MotorTrend if I'm honest.

Any good shows will hopefully be picked up by someone. But lets face it. Discovery lost their way YEARS ago. When Discovery channel first came around, it was a science based learning channel. The content was really good. I loved the show 'Beyond 2000'. The reality stuff... meh. You can keep it.

Saw that yesterday as well. I figured it was coming as the new content on MT TV was dropping off. Then they merged it in with Discovery Channel. I recently saw the host staring their own YT channels and figured it out.

They were the best when MT ran them on YT and they are going back to their roots.

It's sad because these are the real car guys. They can tune the '50s tri-5 and the new Hemi just the same. Not many people have that diversity of skills.

I always wanted to go on a road trip with the RoadKill guys. It reminds me of good times with my buddies in a POS car that would constantly break down. We were stupid, care free and had lots of time. Skateboard were always in the trunk in case for when the car broke down.

MT still has a YT channel with content.

you could probably still road trip with Freiburger. when he does the duct tape drags in Tucson they caravan from, well the last starting point was Irwindale Speedway (but that's closing end of this year) to Tucson. that's not a Motor Trend event, so it might still continue. you're in Cen Cal, just drive down, meat up at the starting point and drive with everybody. i have plans to do that if i ever get my bug back on the road (next year, fingers crossed) and the event happens again.

Very true, I'm sure I can meet them and hang out. They seem to do that a lot. But I was thinking more involved. Like go to a farm, pull a car from a field and take it on a trip with the guys.
