I have in very good condition an OFNA OB4 International (see here for more info http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3825/is_200104/ai_n8947486). When I bought it, I installed a Tekin Rebel ESC and a 11 turn EPIC motor.

I need suggestions on upgrading the motor and if necessary the ESC for asphalt driving, parking lot etc. I prefer to use my existing NIMH packs unless people think I should go brushless and lipo together or just brushless for now with my existing NIMH setup.

I'm looking for speed at an affordable cost with preferably keeping my existing ESC and hopefully just changing the motor. Ideal motor will already have bullet style plugs installed so I just have to swap motors.

How is this one?

You can still use NiMH batteries with most brushless systems. I've been using nothing but NiMH on my brushless electrics all along.

I would recommend that you ditch the bullet connectors on a brushed motor. The difference is going to be night and day.

edit; Either one of those two motors would be a great motor to run. For ESC -> motor connectors, I'd recommend Deans Ultra.

I want to say yes, however, if memory serves, the Rebel is only capable of running a 17 turn single (as the hottest motor). Better safe than sorry going with the 17 turn.

I used to run Tekin way back then, with the 410K being the unit I had. Great ESC. The BEC blew out in it, and I had to run a 4AA pack to make it work. Still kept on running....

Anything above 11 turns ought to be safe. Just mind the proper gearing, and you should be alright.

With a motor that hot, you might want to consider dumping the bullet connectors. They are a serious power robber. Switching to Deans, you'll see your runtime and speed increase dramatically.

Edit; Page 10 of this manual here:

http://www.teamtekin.com/Manuals/Rebel,Titan98.pdf

Section 2 states "Motors below 11 turns will cause a significant buildup of heat without any performance gains". Best to stick with 11 turns or more, which if geared properly, will haul.

Double/triple/quad... Doesn't matter. The key thing is the turn count. Typically, it varies from car to car. The manual should have a chart at the end of the book that recommends a proper gear. For an 11 turn, however.... I'd say about 5 teeth less than a stock 27 turn motor.
