To top off a bad day at work, I did something stupid while bashinf my Savage on my lunch break.

I was on a construction site that has a lot of mud an puddles at one side. There is a small puddle between the mud and the stony area. I drove my Savage through the puddle thinking i'll just get it wet. Well, it turned out to be over 6 inches deep!! I soaked my Savage!! I found out the Savage cannot swim!!! As you can guess this stallled the engine.

When I checked it out, I had water in the pipe and water in my carb!! I drained the water, run fuel through the carb and forced the water out the glow plug hole. I was actually able to start it back up, whew.

Don't drive through puddles you dont know the depth of!!!

Man that sucks. Did you make sure to get all of the water out of your electronics? Or do you have em waterproofed?

just to be safe when you get home buy an extra can of wd40, tear your engine off and down and soak that sucker big time. it will be a bit hard to start next time but should help if any water got in places it should not have.

Was the water all muddy. If it was I would take it and strip the engine right down and clean it all out. If you got any muddy water in thorough the exhaust you'll be screwed(not in a good way either). Only takes a small particle of grit to write the engine off.

man that sucks, thanks though so i will know not to go through mud puddles without checking:cross:

well, you guys probably won't believe it, but after sucking in dirty/muddy water, there is not a spec of dirt inside my S-25!! I took it apart tonight to inspect and clean it. Remember, I told you all that after it happened I drained the water out, then filled the carb with fuel and tugged the pull-start to blow the fuel out the glow plug hole. I did this several times. It seemed to have worked!! Well now is a good time to seal the backplate and carb.
