This may be a stupid Question, but oh well.
Do Minis need a smaller track because of their tire size?:\

Mini's need a smaller track because they are just that.. mini. I mean, in all reality you could run a 1:18 scale on a 1:8 scale track but you'd spend a lot of time at full throttle and also it may not handle well since 1:8 and 1:10 will generally rut a track deeper to the extent that it would be VERY bumpy for a 1:18. Even a 1:16 truggy might have a tough time handling well on a track that has been dug up by 1:8 scale tires. But for the most part it's simply due to the size of the cars themselves. You don't need a 10 ft. wide lane for a car that is 7 inches wide.

So how big is a mini track? Dose it have jumps just as big? How wide are they?

There's a hobby shop near me that just added a mini track and I believe it's something like 40' x 60'. I'm guessing around 5' wide lanes

You mean the same size you would see at a larger track? I suppose that depends on your definition of "handle". The bottom line is that the smaller scale cars deserve a smaller scale track. A 2 foot mogul for a 1:8 scale truggy is a pretty bug jump for a 1:18 scale. Everything is generally scaled down for the smaller cars. From the overall size of the track and width of the lanes to the height and distances of the jumps. Everything is just smaller. I can't really tell you specifics but it just makes sense that everything should be smaller when there is that much of a difference in size.

A while back I built a nice cardboard jump for my 1:18 scale trucks and it's only like 9 inches in height. That same ramp is by far TOOO big for a 1:36 scale truck. Size does matter.

ok cool. Are mini tracks the same lenght? How long can a mini go on one battey?

soory, I meant to asked if they can be the same lenght, will the batteries last long enough for 5-10 laps?

Even a brushed motor and speed control will get you around 20 minutes of runtime on an 1100 pack. Brushless motors/ESC's and Lipo batteries can push runtimes on mini's to near 40 min. or more.

As long as you want it to be. If you're looking to be around a certain laptime your just gonna have to test it out. I once planned on a 1:18 track in my backyard but I just don't have the time or really enough space to do it the way I really want. It would have been approx. 30 x 70 or something like that, plenty big for a 1:18 IMO. But hey, who's to stop you from building a 85 ft. straightaway? You do whatever you like ya know.
