hey guys i just got my mini finally and was wondering what kind of battery setup everyone is running...right now I am only running the two ni/mh batteries with it.(the one that came with it and the exact one additionally) i have put the high speed pinion in it and clocked it at 45 mph. traxxas claims 50+. has anyone else clocked theres? i'm thinking of getting two lipos. what are you guys running lipo wise? i already have a charger with built in balancer so all i need are the batteries. thanks...

Traxxas is known for overstating how fast their vehicles go out of the box. I don't own the MERV, but I do have a Revo 3.3. Enjoy your truck!

I use 1600mah 30c 3s in mine, its hella bad ass with them. Never clocked it though.

holy crap $8.99 for a 2s lipo and 12.99 for a 3s lipo? why so cheap? You have actually used these? I've never used lipos before. is their really that much of a difference? what are your thoughts?

LiPos tend to have the same high discharge rate throughout their discharge cycle which tends to be higher than a NiMH pack. The other great thing is that they weigh a lot less. You just have to take a bit more care when you charge them.

yeah you thought that 2 nimh's was crazy on your MERV just wait til you venture into Lipos. Like previously stated the advantage to Lipos is that they are internally more efficient therefore able to release more power at once. If you are going to buy Lipos make sure and read up on the care and feeding of them because they require a bit more attention than Nimh's but as long as you have a double digit IQ you should be fine, here are some resources for you.

i appreciate all the input guys...I'm looking at lipos right now. i'm probably gonna order 2 venom lipos. i read that article in the link and it had a lot of good info. i was wondering if you can charge and discharger the lipos in parallel like you can the ni/mh? thanks guys

check out hyperion lipo's. i run a pair of 2S lipo's in my 1/16 slash and although every once in awhile i get tempted to put it on 3S, i don't want to lose driveability. Make sure you don't get the truck to a point where its only good for high speed passes.
