Hey guys I ran into some trouble today when I was out toying with the mini. It is acting like something is wrong with the motor. I just reprogrammed the esc and its still doing it. When I turn it on it just clicks like the drive train is locked up or something when I give it throttle and it does nothing when I go in reverse. I know the drivetrain isn't locked up cuz I took the motor out and held it while I gave it throttle and it does the same thing. Traxxas isn't open today since its sunday so I figured I could get some insight from u guys till I call them tomorrow... Thoughts???

Matt, do you have telepathy man? I didn't read anything about 4s.

Deezy - If you ran it on 4s then you more than likely fried the ESC. Traxxas will fix it for you but for a price.

I read in another post he was having trouble running 4s through it in cutoff mode. Had to set it to nimh to get it to work. That extra .4 of a volt must be too much for it. My buds has run nice and cool everytime on 2, 6 cell duratrax 1600's. Gets a little warm to the touch, but has held up since they where first released.

It's probably the amperage that kills the ESC. the Lipo dumps the power into the ESC faster than the nickel and probably blows it out.

Yea I was runnin it on 4s...and that's what I'm thinking happened...anyone know a better upgrade for the esc and motor?

are you looking to continue running it on 4S? You will need a much lower KV motor if you are. Neu makes some good motors and you can run the mamba max on 4S with a ubec but you might as well just do it right and put the mamba max pro or the MMM on it.

I personally don't see the point since 3S gives these vehicles all the power they need to be fun and remain driveable. If you want to sacrifice that for speed runs then i would just get the 540can motor mount for it along with one of the 6S rated esc's i mentioned above and run your 4S.

If you decide to stay with 2-3S, i have a stock esc like yours for sale on here.

I sent u a pm about the esc...and I have a question...what 3s battery can I use thatll fit in the battery door? I don't know of any that fit...a 2s barely fits...how do u guys put ur 3s battery in the car? Thanks everybody!!

thanks ohiofordman. also, how do people get their mini's to go so fast? even when mine was running on 4s, it didn't look like they were as fast as the ones i've seen on youtube videos...what gearing is everyone running? i have the stock gearing in mine(without the high speed pinion). i've changed the pinions a few times, but the way it came in box seems the fastest. i have a 45 tooth spur in the mail, so i'll see what that does...
