Alright guys I'm torn between these 2 buggies. I don't think for an extra 200 the extra's on the k3 are worth it so its between the two what do you guys think?

hey vb...I had the same question today and my LHS answerd it for me! Definatly go with the K2 its the best 1/8 scale on the market!! and i truley beleive what my LHS tells me on buggys since they have there own race team and they all run the K2. the K3 is not worth the extra money !!! I'm going with the K2 myself this summer!!

I haven't had the pleasure of driving either one but the best local driver around here (Chris Crews) didn't like the K3 and went back to the K2. I guess that speaks highly of the K2 (or badly of the K3). I agree, the money for the K3 is crazy. I think SkyMaxx has an MBX. That thing is pretty stout. Good luck either way.

I run a K2 and love it. More goodies on it than the X5 if your into that kinda thing, but I won't say one is better than the other. They're both sweet buggies, and usually most guys just have a preference for one of the brands - so just pick the one you like better.

That said, the K2 is still better! :hehe:

I have seen both my MBX-5 and EP's K2 and 3 in action. They are excellent buggies and can take what we (as bashers) have been dishing out. Is one better than the other, just ask the owner...he'll tell you what he has is the best thing on the face of the Earth.

I will tell you that you should let your wallet be your guide. If you have really deep pockets, then buy what you like. In the case of the buggies you are choosing between, I don't think you can go wrong.

thats why i got the K2 I could not see me paying extra $200 for the k3. Just my tought I have picture in the thread that i'm running check it out

My feeling is the X-5 incorporates new race technology and the Kanai uses time tested race technology. I feel the X-5 is a little more cutting edge and the K played it safe (deff not a bad thing). Time will tell but as the Nats showed the X-5 is not a cut below the K's. I think it is hard to say if one is better than the other as they are different and there is a trade off either way. I can say imo it seems that Mugen and Kyosho do make the best plastics.

Mugen Kyosho.. .might as well flip a coin.. they both got their plus's and downfalls.. i personally like the C-hub better than the PBS steering the Mugen prvides.. however.. i like the lower COG servo tray the Mugen has.. heard the mugen has crazy steering.. flys really well.. Kyosho will be releasing the new 777 pretty soon.. who knows.. but both are great buggies..

Yeah dude just flip a coin.

There's gotta be one that YOU like better out of the two (bah humans....) so if it was me i'd just go with that.

Both are A+ bugs, so its hard not to make an A+ choice either way.

I'd go with the newer model buggy, which would be the mugen.

I've seen a few MBX-5's and they are very nice looking machines.

:buggy1:
just to add a thought/ race what u can afford
this is the reason l went with the mbx5
and l have driven k3 as well both with o.s rz
and l must say l have made the right choice MBX5
l think the extra cash for k3 is for the stickers/name
so image what mugen will be worth after the worlds
(heap and heaps l hope)

I don't hope that; it would be nice if the prices stayed resonable.

I have a MBX-5 and an MP7.5 (converted to k2).

The Kyohso is a simpler buggy. You can tear it down and rebuild it quicker. It's expensive and parts can be found on ebay and at tower.

The mugen has more adjustments in the steering and arms so you can quickly make changes to ride, steering, camber, caster, etc and adjust for track conditions. On the negative side, these same adjustments are fragile. The little plastic bushings wear out quickly. I've ended up replacing them with more durable home-made parts. Parts are expensive and sometimes hard to find.

Both are excellent buggies capable of winning any race. The mugen is probably better out of the box but requires more maintenance. But that is not to say it isn't durable. The arms, chassis, diffs, cvgs, and plastic used are insanely durable. But there are small parts that wear out so overall it requires more maintenance than the kyosho.

Go with the Mugen.. Don't get me wrong on the Kyosho.. Its a good car, but the company comes out with a new car ever few months just to keep up.. K2, K3, 777 all with in how long??!! Just look at the results of the U.S. Nats last month in Vegas.. That'll tell it all..

As for parts.. Take the extra 200 bucks you saved from buying the Mugen and buy extra spare parts..:)

Haha, I was waiting for you to chime in Gixer Jay:hehe: suprised you didn't sooner! I agree with Jay though, Kyosho has a good buggy out there... all of them, but they seem to be strugling lately with there new releases... one after the next.:2cents:

Come on guys, I don't like them releasing new buggies every day either, but mugen fan or not, you have to realise that it's generally not to "keep up" and especially not to keep up with Mugen, if that is the misconception. Any of the older 7.5's will be just as competitive, if you stack up the differences you'll see what I mean.

Kyosho is just trying to make more money, and they are doing it in a horrible way - releasing new kits 'like every day'. And what can you do, people are buying them, so Kyosho makes more money. In the end, that's what every company's in it for.

That doesn't magically mean they are trying to 'keep up' though, seriously, that's something Kyosho has NEVER done. If you look at the orignal MBX-5 design compared to the MBX4XR and the MP7.5's, you'll see a lot more realistically who's being doing the 'keeping up'.

I hate starting arguments like these, but I think i've layed down the facts..

No arguement here.. Mugen and Kyosho both have great cars.. Thats like saying AE is trying to keep up with Losi, or Losi keeping up with AE.. They both have good cars..

Keep up or not.. Kyosho has a great car, but I just think they need better marketing skillz.. It just blows my mind to release all these different cars in so little time.. Especially for the kind of price tag that are on those cars.. Its one thing to make a car better over a period of time doing testing, working with prototypes, and engineering, but someone has their head up their a** at Kyosho..

If they're ( Kyosho ) that money hungry and not concerned about the state of mind of the consumer then its just a bad image that they are putting on themselves and for the future of the company..

No arguing, just the facts..

Peace

I dunno, Ofna has like 15 buggies in their line up and they release new ones on a regular basis. They seem to do okay.

Yea, I know Onfa isn't usually bleeding edge stuff. The fact that they keep selling buggies and keep coming out with new lines tells me that it must work, people keep buying them. Kyosho might have a better lineup then Ofna but the business is the same..

I see it as a good thing. I like more, more to choose from, more to diversify the the track. If there were only one GS, Ofna, Kyosho and Mugen buggy, it would be pretty boring. Not to mention these companies end up competing with themselves; they lower the price of the previous versions when releasing a new one.

Keep 'em coming!
