Waiting on fast motors and other parts to show up. I love this little rig. Fitted a 450mah battery. Used some 1mm carbon fiber from a crashed helicopter frame to make a battery tray and rear frame brace. I cut the rear frame brace off to get more room for the battery. It balances very well with the bigger pack on the back.
Installed jconcepts goldyear tires on black wheels. They are much better than stock and looks badass.

Cool little rig, one suggestion, put some sort of plastic cap or a dab of silicone over those screws that are next to the battery, hate to see it get punctured.

That looks kickass! And yeah, flip those screws so the screw points outwards. I would use button head M2's with a nut on the outside even.

I ground them down just didn’t post the pic. Just using them for oring battery holds. There pretty solid and the battery is very secure.

High speed motor and metal drive shaft’s installed. Little thing rips. Now time to put oil in the shocks.

Curious how the high speed motor handles, I'd be afraid of it tipping at high speed, but I've never had anything like this before.

Its not bad. But, I've been in rc for well over 20 years. 1/5th scale gasoline offroad is my main forte but I dab in every scale.
I will say though, I plan on putting a furitek esc in this , mainly because I want my good spare transmitter (spektrum) linked to it for dialing in the throttle and steering control with all the cpu settings.
I will not go brushless as the speed motor is plenty fast! I bought 2 speed motors so I have a spare to gauge longevity.

Portal gears had zero grease in them. Added a dab. When you take the portals apart don’t lose the shim. Its tiny and easy to do.

Can you get portals that attach to the stock axles

There are aftermarket alloy ones but the stock portals are strong. The Fms plastic is pretty good.

About four drops is my sweet spot so far.

Oh wait my bad I thought that the max smasher was an scx24 lol. Are there any aftermarket portals that will fit on the stock axles of a scx24?

It’s basically the exact same frame and axels

It's the same frame as the FMS FCX-24 not the Axial SCX-24 and the FCX-24 does come with metal portal gears now. I have seen portals for the SCX-24 somewhere but I think it's a full axle kit.
