Manitoba RC Comp Crawlers

M.RC.C.C February 2026 Comp @ Mile High Crawl Center - 172 Sutherland Ave, WPG MB.

Here's some of the trucks waiting to go after the drivers meeting.

Some out of towners brought out some interesting rigs; Reefs RC (2k CDN for the kit 😳) and some ExocagedRC Trucks.

I ran in 1/18th Unlimited x2, 1/10th Portal Sportsman and 1/10th Unlimited. I didn't place on the podium in any class.

I had 1/18th Unlimited (w/ Apex 18) in the bag but instead of taking a breath, I sent it to the final gate and bobbled it.
My buddy had a clean run of 1:40, at :59 seconds I was approaching the final gate, I clearly had the win. As I mentioned, I should have taken my time or asked for a pause to reset. I ended up falling off a ledge instead of just finishing clean. Oh well, something to take away for next time.

I sent him this meme;

He responded in kind

Till next time E Dawg!

Sumo Table about to go down! Poor 1/30th 🫔

I have footage on my action camera I have to review, this is just what was in my phone.

As someone else talked about in a different thread, the length of these events can be crazy long. For me it workrd out to eight hours of time for like less than twenty minutes of driving; it's a tough sell going forward.
The maths are hard to maths there. I won a door prize though and I had fun šŸ™‚

When Pronoob RC puts up their video I'll link it here.

Makes for a long day, but looks like a good time. This is why I like to crawl with no more than a few people. But it would be fun to go to an occasional event just to see the variety of crawlers. :)

I think that's more my energy going forward. It'll be fun to go to the occasional one, but I won't be attending every single comp held in my area.

Some of the builds were so cool; that TRX4-M with the 3D printed body and interior (blue body, beige interior) is super nice! It was also cool to see that Reefs truck in person. First time the guy had ever had it out so it needs some tuning.

There is something staring me dead in the face after this comp though; the 1/10th truck will most likely require a bit more investment to podium.

A Vanquish straight axle rig running a stance body is what won unlimited if I recall. It looked so planted out there! So I need a touch more front weight to hang in there. I think the heavy brass portal covers from VP will be on my list before the next one.

Looks like a killer shop!

Yeah, the guys over there have put in a ton of work!!!! For the most part it went off quite well and the turn out was decent in my eyes.

Looks fun! I'm headed that way in late june for a wedding . hopefully somethings going on when I'm there
Awesome! We have lots to offer here but that's the time to come down, honestly. Our local food scene is intense too; so many great restaurants!

The crawling events in the summer are held outside at a quarry, just outside the capital city a short drive.

sweet! I'll have to make time

Unfortunately my Action Camera pooped in its bed but ProNoob put up there video.

My runs are 6:40 for 1/10 Unlimited, it cuts off the second half of the course. Then in 1/18th Unlimited you can see my TRX4-M lumber it's way through the course at 20:58, I ran my Apex Predator near the end after I had a feeling for the route but no video.

Killer course, thanks for sharing the vid!!! šŸ˜

The rules seem pretty relaxed. I couldn't find a set of rules or book, but Heres my take away:

Comp Class Overview

Stock Classes (1/30 & 1/18):

- Mostly stock rigs
- Stock tire size
- Stock body and bumpers required
- Limited modifications
- Designed to keep competition affordable and balanced

Sportsman (1/30–1/10):

- More upgrades allowed
- Non-portal axles
- Must retain scale appearance
- Bumpers required
- Must fit within the tech frame/measurement box

The frame box is basically there to stop rigs from becoming ultra-wide, stretched-out comp monsters while still calling themselves ā€œSportsman.ā€

Sportsman Portal (1/18–1/10):

- Similar to Sportsman
- Portal axles allowed
- Still requires body/bumpers
- Still must fit within sizing frame

Unlimited:

- No sizing frame restrictions
- No bumper requirements
- Extreme mods allowed
- Almost anything goes!
