I broke in my Nov. P5 with the included plug and it ran through a gallon of Trin. Plat. I replaced the plug with a trusty OS #8 plug and it made it through about a quarter gallon before I had to pull it. The plug was wet and the end of the coil was black...wtf!

It did the same thing to another OS #8 with a wet look with a black end....the engine temps run around 200-220 all day...wtf!

I am not sure why I am going through so many freaking glow plugs.....I expected the OS 8 to run for at least a gallon if not longer!

i blew a os #p3 today trying to break in my 18tz.....backorder on tower D: D: D: D: D:

didnt even get the engine started

I am not sure what causes glow plugs to seize to function prematurely, but maybe its because you're running it to rich still?

And I just wanted to add that my Savage 25 still uses the same original glow plug, and that one has more than 10 litres through it.

yeah it is weird because the first glow plug went through a whole gallon of 30% and now it eats OS #8 like candy....I figured the temp was in the perfect range....I guess I need to adjust the HSN so more....this sucks!

not sure on the plug problems, kinda odd sounding.

How are you likeing the k3

yeah I am sure it is rich and the wheelies are good as ever!

I Am not sure what glow plug comes with the Nov. REX P5...........I have looked online but I didn't see the glow plug manf. title!

do I need to swap to a hotter plug? Right now I am using OS #8 medium plug

I'm assuming the actual coil is getting broken or not lighting up anymore?

I know my 21's don't run well with hotter plugs. The hotter plug detonates to early and goofs up the timing of the engine. My smaller engines (15's) liked the hot plug though.

What about compression? Have you removed shims from your head? I'm just wondering if that might be causing some predetonation which is affecting the plug.

The coil is actually pressed (bent?) up against the head of the glow plug and is black. So from this I surmise I have too much compression and need to add a shim not remove the shim (currently I only have 1 shim in place)......

The wire appears to be bent which means too much compression.........so I was going to start with 1 more shim and see what happens....going through OS 8 like candy is just not acceptable to me........

If the plug is wet and black, it sounds like you are running way too rich and fouling out the plug. Lean the hsn a bit and see what happens.

I am going to lean out the HSN and see if that helps....what sucks is the temps were 200-220 after 10 minutes of run time which is exactly the range I wanted to be in and I had plenty of power.........

So you took a shim out and you don't know why you're having glow plug troubles? The P5 comes shimmed for 30%. Leave it alone!

what you need to do, is check your clearance. you should have about .022-.028" between the edge of the combustion chamber button, and the piston when at TDC. that is the proper clearance for 30% fuel. i would imagine you need to add 1 copper shim. also, your P5 came with a Novarossi #6 plug iirc. you should run that or a nova #5 plug in it. it sounds as if your tuned too rich to compensate for higher compression (which raises temps)

also, until you get video proof, your full of poop on wheelies.

Yes, the Nova. P5 comes with a standard plug #6 (cold)....I switched to OS #8 medium. I will be switching to a cold plug and btw your just a hater with his gums flapping in the wind. You have no standing in any shape or form to even remotely begin to comment on my buggy let alone start commenting on events at which you were not even there.

I was sharing an experience which was unique and the whole event is not even up for debate because it happened....the only problem is you have not come to terms to accept it...that isn't my problem...it is yours.
