Major snow/ice storm

I'm guessing they probably only have enough salt for the major roads and highways. Refreeze are the worst!
I guess. I've not seen a salt/brine truck or any scrapers this year on my country road. It's looking a mess. The county sheriff's department said no travel! on the website.

When will they sand the gators?

They are easier to catch right now though 😅

25° & everything is frozen solid. The temps got to 39° overnight & it all re-froze into slick sheets of ice. Roads are not passable.
Temps came up a bit in the night here. Last couple inches is heavier than the first 10. Very tight neighborhood, limited places to put it though. Got a 3 ft plow line to clear at the end of the driveway.

man we have maybe 1 inch on top of 3 inch of ice lol,
I love driving in that skim of ice/snow over dirt or asphalt.
Constantly going between good an NO traction! 🤣

Its lots of fun! 😁👍

People get mad when I show pictures of my place. 40 acres in norther nm mountains with a 1/2 mile of creek bed. I have a standing open invite for all RCTalk members
Yeah, that property looks sweet!

It's been a while since I've been to the ABQ. Usually it's on a MTB trip coming to/fr AZ/Sedona/Flag/PX. And usually Moab. Depends. You can do a big ol' loop from where I live. It's nice but a lot of driving. There are some really good trails by the Air Force base. But the signs that tell you that there may be some weapons/bombs unloading near you is a little freaky.

I think my history would reveal I've been to Angel Fire more than anything in NM. Lots of MTB riding/racing there.

<Mr Burns voice> You mean there's a NEW Mexico?! HA love that line

I had to look it up. 8 hours from Fort Collins to ABQ. I would have to chop that up to 2, 4hour segments. And do something fun in the middle.

Hmmm...If you build it, we will come :)

Finished another 2hr clearing job a little while ago. Still have deck and shed roof to go, but I wanted to stop for my first meal of the day. I'll head back out in a couple of hours finish everything up.
But, as @CertifiedMike said, there's one more section of this system moving through later this evening before this monster system fully departs.

It's getting better here. I drove out & around. My road isn't too good, but the mains are ok & have been scraped & salted. Got behind a scrape truck spitting salt as it went. 15° tonight, all the running, melting water will hard freeze across the roads tho. Most stores are closed. Currently 33° & sunny! It's pretty out but 12-15mph winds.

Forgot to mention:
There was about a 3ft wall of packed snow at the entrance to my driveway this morning. A build up from the city street plowing efforts. While I was out with my little snowblower, my next door neighbor's plow guy showed up to clear out their driveway. After he was done with their driveway, he cleared out the snow wall in front of my driveway. I really appreciated that act of niceness!
