Here's my problem I start the engine no problem there but when it gets up to about 200 degrees it wants to sputter like its not getting fuel also when it's hot will not start again can't get a tune on it either it has to have rich settings like almost factory or it won't run I'm wandering if I didn't break it in right don't know what's up with it tried different pipes changed fuel lines changed header gasket going crazy here any ideas thanks

did you seal it when you bought it

No I did not. And not really sure how to do that . Have broken in 7 engines in the last 3 years but never sealed any

The very rich settings makes me think an air leak. Sealing an engine is done by removing the backplate and putting a thin layer of either red rtv or the copper rtv around where the backplate butts up to the case. Removing the carb and putting some around the top of the neck that slides into the case and removing your needles and putting some green slim around them or at least a little grease. There are tons of videos on youtube on how to seal a motor.

Thanks will definitely try this to see what happens thanks again

I've never sealed a motor either.. I run 30%a od. 'S seems to be easier to tune.. I'm sure mine has air leaked because it leaks fuel to some extent but runs fine .. id probably try it but I haven't seen it cause enough of a problem to do it.. if I were racing sure... but I'm not and ...well I would try different plug and fuel...(just me, not a pro but like I said I've never sealed one )but let us know if u do id like to see the change it does make

How much fuel has the engine seen? If sealing it doesn't work, it may be time for a rebuild.

Might try that just bought a new gallon of 20 percent yesterday ill wait a while then try this idea the more and more I mess with the engine the worse it gets

I know I got ahead of myself once with an LRP, broke it in and ran it without tearing it down and cleaning it then sealing it. At about the 1/2 gallon mark, I noticed odd tuning symptoms. Then it just wouldn't run right. I knew from having other LRP's that they are a bit finicky for the first gallon or so as the parts burn into one another.

Then for some reason, I went to pull the starter and it felt funny. So, pulled the engine and found that all 4 backplate screws had come loose to the point that 3 weren't even screwed in anymore and the backplate was just hanging there.

I've told myself time and time again... always tear down, clean, inspect, seal and locktite backplate screws on brand new engines. Sometimes I just can't help it!

Ya sealed the lrp 30 . No luck I'm thinking about sending in to team associated see what they can do with it. In the mean time any thoughts on a different motor to run in my savage. Was thinking about a offna engine. Any feed back would be cool. Have a collari engine in my xl it's a .30 let me tell you that thing runs beautiful. But don't want to spend that much on this savage it's my basher no holds bared lol......

I got a hold of a dynaminte mach .28 off of eBay. The owner said it needed to be broken on the rest of the way. Problem is it doesn't want to stay running more than 10 15 secs. I turn idle up needles are factory still no luck . Any ideas

Associated use to have a trade in program for engine .. u send um ur old one they replace it at 1/2 price of a new one.. might be a way to get rid of the problems..?

I had these funny problems breaking-in a Dynamite .21 engine recently. I had cleaned and sealed it, but still it acted like it had an air leak. Had to richen needles from factory settings just to get it started.

Finally I noticed the manifold sat a little odd, so added a second manifold spring and it immediately worked much better. Just a thought...

Thanks for that my friend that's the ticket works now took off the manifold there wasn't even no gasket at all thanks again sweet!!!!!!!!
