Hey everyone, i just bought my lrp .28 spec 3 for my savage, and I was wondering if I can break it in in winter temperatures. it is around 20 degrees F, and i have already gotten a few tanks through it in some warmer weather a few days ago (40 degrees F). The hottest my engine got was around 150 degrees so i know i need it to be a little hotter. I have heard of putting a sock over the cooling head to boost the temp a little is this true? I have a heat gun meter and was wondering if i can continue to safely break in my engine in these cold temperatures. Thank you.

It is not a very good idea to do a break in when the temperature is below 70°. Cold weather causes excessive wear to the piston and sleeve.

Its amazing how so many people ask the same question during the winter months!! ^+1^ for hamz suggestion

Well, it sucks to get a new toy and not be able to use it. Imagine being on a ship and having a Ferrari on the deck. You have it, you can look at it, you can sit in it and say Vroom Vroom, but what else can you do?
