Just looking for a little feedback. I recently got back into rc. I picked up a couple used trucks/buggies. Got a nice LST xxl. I decided to put a new motor in. Got a new lrp .28 spec 3. I broke it in as follows: first tank idled up to 205 degrees and let run full tank. Then cooled at bdc. Second tank drove in slow circles same temps, cool off. Third tank slow steady pulls to 1/4 throttle, then brake and vary rpm from idle to quarter again same temps 205 ish, cool off. 4th tank slow steady pulls to half throttle and vary rpm from idle to 1/2. 5th tank slow steady pulls to 3/4 and stayed there a few seconds then brake and vary throttle, temp went up little higher 225 - 230 ish, then cool off.

That's where I'm at. This is first new nitro motor i have had. I am very nervous about the brake in. Does it seem like it should be affective break-in. Should i do another couple tanks? Also, I had a little trouble keeping it running first tank had to lean LSN a bit. Also fourth tank had to lean HSN a bit to get temp up. Seemed like it would bog approaching 1/2 throttle and then it would be cooler 190ish. Leaned HSN and temp went up and no bog.

Nitro engines out the factory are very very rich to stop under lubrication due to the new piston and lining. So it's normal for it to bog down. As for what you've done, it sounds fine to me- but everybody has a different opinion on how to do this though. Some racers use heat cycling, some just stick to idle a tank, e.t.c :)

Thanks for reply I'm gonna take it easy another tank or 2 when it gets nice out again.

Sounds like your doing it right, lean it a bit more to get the Temps up around 260 and heat cycle there a few times and you should be good to go

Excellent. Glad to hear i am doing it correctly. Was very nervous. Thats what i will do, temps up to 260ish for a few more tanks. As soon as the rain stops.
Thank you
