Without the lid being removed I can't tell you what the car is built around. I will say it looks to me to be a custom build though. Traxxas makes a ready to run car (Electric).http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Traxxas...pt=Radio_Control_Vehicles&hash=item5b0750ac9d. I'm not sure if there are any RTR (Ready to run) Nitro funny car models out there that you can just buy. Most of those are custom builds. Is your husband looking to get into nitro car's like that one or was that just a video hint that he want's a remote control car. A car like that is really only good for one thing and that's go fast in a straight line. Is he a good tinkerer? Nitro and electric model rc car's take lots of patience and someone that like's to tinker and fix stuff. There very expensive too. Along with the $300-$1000 car you will invest around another $1000-$2000 in parts tools etc. If your still interested and you think your husband will be too give us a idea of what he may want or is he really wanting a rc set up for straight line drag racing?

I've never been into the whole RC drag racing scene so someone else may correct my answer to this question but Id be willing to wager the RC in that video isnt something you can buy. I'm 99% sure it was custom built. I'm fairly certain that most RC drag cars out there are custom jobs. Outside of the electric ones that Traxxas sells (Like the one BamaFan Posted above) I'm not aware of any others. There may be a couple here and there but I'm pretty sure that most people usually mod other RC kits into dragsters or custom build them. Anyone know different?

You just said exactly what I just said. Great minds think alike. :)

He has had several of the Traxxas kit cars before...I think he LIKES building them so that's fine! It doesn't have to be ready to run!

Need someone with dragster building experience to weigh in on this thread. I dont know which direction to point you in other than I know the Jato by Traxxas is often turned into a drag car.

Since I'm not into drag cars I'm going to leave this one to someone that can point you in the right direction for the right chassis and parts he will need to custom build one. I'm sure it would be cool to build one just not my forte.

It may be best to go to your local hobby shop and see what they say...

Looking at thie video, I can tell you that this thing is INSANE! It is almost certainly custom built.

After looking around, almost all are either partial kits or custom builds.
I am assuming the one in the video is using the OS Wankel engine for power.
Below are some other sites with Drag Race/Car boards and a few Web sites that sell kits.

You really need to ask him exactly what he wants to do, the parts you buy are specific to the type, style, and power plant of the car he wants to build.
The good news is there are a lot of kits to choose from and they can be customized in any your hubby see's fit or can imagine!

Hope this helps you out, feel free to ask if have any more questions, we'll try our best to answer them for you.
