I changed the the grease in the center diff to 5000wt oil. I cleaned what I could in the housing. Reinstalled spider gears and filled with oil. Before tightening all the way the gears turned smooth, after it was tightend the diff gears are tight and very hard to move. What is causing this? First time doing the diff.

may have over tightend the screws on the diff back each one of them off 1/16 turn at a time and see if it loosens up some.

Was there a gasket in the diff? It sounds like you have some mechanical binding in there. I would crack it open to make sure evert thing is lined up proppery ect and try again. The screws being too tight shouldn't make it bind up because it the ring gear is pushing down on spider gears inside you have clearance issues.

The gasket was fine. I.took out the spacer behind the bevel gear. It was pretty messed up. Raced it tonight and all is good.
