I am looking to get into 1/5 scale rc but am not sure what to buy. I am looking for something 4 wheel drive and looks like a monster truck. I was looking at a Redcat Rampage Mt 2. Is that truck any good. Please steer me the right way.

from what i here they are good trucks itsalifeworthliving has posts on here of his very nice rigs check out his videos you will see them in action

well, picking a 5th scale all depends on what you want/use it for and what you expect from it. there is a good selection of mt's out there. but it all comes down to your budget. are you looking for all out speed, 4wd, durabilty, great out of the box. the fg mt is a screamer right out of the box. FAST. but its only 2wd, and handles like a brick. parts are expensive and sometimes a long wait. the 4wd version is super pricey at about 2k. then the mcd MT. its 4wd, and pretty large, but also pretty pricey at $1300.00. then you have the redcat. what a suprise. its a decant rig. not bad, but not the the best either. they take a little fiddling with to get them to hold up to a serous bashing. most is all home remidies, like centering the drive shafts and venting the gear cover and a few other little things like that. the redcat mt version is kinda slow and slugish out of the box. the 4wd and the 10lb tires really dont help. puting a pipe on it makes it alot more fun. the stock radio gear should be tossed. the tt version in my opinion is slightly better. its faster, more durable and still pretty damn big. i have 3- 5th scale redcats. the tt is my faverite. parts for the redcats are inexpensive and super easy to get. but you will need a "good" radio system. they are larger, so you can see them alot further out, range is now an issue and the ignition systems couse glitching on a standard am/fm radio. if your really interested in the ramps, check out the sister forum. lots of info. http://www.redcatrampageforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4
