my first nitro was a tmaxx 3.3, needless to say it was not a good experience. since then i have bought losi 8ight, scx 10 and a t4.1 all with tekin systems. ill love electric rc until the day i die but maybe i missed out on a great section of this hobby. id really like to get back into nitro but i am worried the same thing will happen again; nitro won't hold a tune and it will become a money pit. in your guys opinion who makes the best non competition engine? something that will hold a tune and last a while

I'm not looking to spend a fortune, i just want to get a good monster truck that i can learn with and possibly bash. don't want to put a lot of money into this car, tuning a car at the track doesn't sound enjoyable to me, i like my 8ight -e that smokes the nitros at my tracks (:

Electrics are alot easier to keep running but your right... your missing out on an awesome portion of rc by not beating on a nitro. Why did you give up on the tmaxx? I hear the 3.3 can be difficult to tune but if you properly break in , seal, and tune it will be a very powerful motor that can be reliable. +1 on OS. You can get a good smallblock that will drop right in for under $150

You may want to revisit traxxas then and look at the revo. Or do you want to race with nitro? If so, maybe a buggy or truggy may suite you.

Revo and savage are still two of the top bashing contenders.

i only have indoor tracks so nitro isn't preferred for racing. I've also had an emaxx and wasn't pleased with it. one of my friends has a savage flux and its indestructible. how good is the engine on that savage x 4.6?

The 4.6 is a good engine. I prefer that to the 5.9 which is kind of hit or miss.

I'm pretty much can tune my engine perfectly now. Anything goes wrong I can retune it with less than 2 mins. And I have only been into this hobby and got my first notro car about 20 days ago. U will be good if u spend some time to learn how to tune it. This forum is so great, ppl here are very nice and knowledgeable.

i got a revo a few months back and love it. tuning isnt much or a problem, i only bash but i still like it running at a nice lean but a tuch rich tune so it goes hard. its easy to just wack out the temp gun and go yeh its running warm, richen it up a bit and away u go. nothing hard about it
