Hey guys...
My wife recently asked me what I wanted for Xmas this year.. I decided that I need a nice throne to call my own... I'm looking for an oversized leather recliner, with maybe some heat, mesage, to plant in front of the TV... Can anyone recommend a brand, model, store?
Is this the first sign of getting old? ..... lol

I'm not sure who makes it, but when we were shopping for a new couch (by we, I mean my wife), I found a sweet leather recliner that had rollers and heat in it. It wasn't a vibrating thing (those make you itchy) it was just like this bed at my chyropractor. It had rollers in it that would roll up and down your back and you could adjust the frequency and where it would roll.... it was awesome, but expensive. I'm sure they have them in other furniture stores, but this was a Leath store.

I think it was around $1200, but man, after 5 minutes in it, it would have really been worth it! If only we lived in a house...

Had me going as well. Do a search. A few years ago We were looking for a new crapper. I put on my shorts grabbed the newspaper and my gameboy and was all set to go to Home Depot. The wife was like WTF and refused to go with me.

Go somewhere that has a lot of choices. Sit your ass in everyone. Put a sticky note on the ones you like so you can go back to them.

Wear the clothing you do at night when your going to be siting in it. Sit in it for an hour minimum, Just like your watching your favorite TV show. Have the kid, wife, and dog there to sit on your lap just as they would do at home. Work that puppy out. If they have a back room to move the chair into you can give it a more privet workout with the wife to see if it fits the bill. Don't forget that the arm needs to be able to hold the remote(s) without sliding off.

LYAO Real world testing is a must for something as important as a Mans TV Chair.

PS Don't look at the price tags until you find one you like. Prices are going to be high but your worth it!

American standard for the good old fashioned WOOSH! Oh wait, you got me too! All kidding aside, FastEddy has some great advice. We were looking for a nice small leather chair to fit in out home office and we must have looked at 1,000 different chairs. Don't jump on the first one you see and don't look at price until you say I'll take it, unless you have a budget set to stay under. I'm trying to remember where or who made it but I saw one with a small (6 pack size) fridge and speakers along with the remote holder. Though if your a true lazy man and wannabe techno geek, you'll have only one super remote anyway!

I agree with bustedgears You can't go wrong with a Lazyboy we have had a couple and there have never let my ass down! lol..

We went to a place here in texas called the room store after Rita to buy some new furniture. We ended up buying a sectional couch, a bed set and a dining room set. The entire time we were in that store I sat in this "Captain's couch" thing. It is just like a sectional couch, but in the corner, where usually there would just be a piece of couch, there is an elevated Recliner that sits on a pedastool.it is right in the middle of the sectional, It was made of brown leather and it was heaven.

It had a small cooler for a six pack in one arm, with a flipout tv in the other...all kinds of crap- Fully reclining and such. Ask around about the name, I am sure you could find something

Massage chairs are great but they are made for getting a massage. All of the massage chairs I have tried out are not comfortable for extended every day lounging. I haven't tried a lot of them, only the higher end units. IMO they were uncomfortable for just sitting in but were great for a massage.

IMO a lounging chair and a massage chair are two different animals each having their own strong points but aren't interchaingable.

I was gonna tell ya to get a baday (Sp?)..lol..

My dad has a Leather Lazy boy and ya damn near have to peel him out of there to get a chance to sit in it. He LOVES it. And the few chances I've got to sit in it, its pretty nice.

It's either Sharper Image or Brookstone that has one of those hooptie leather recliners with heat, massage rollers and I think it even reclines automatically (i.e., no lever on the side). I gotta tell ya, the thing was a dream to sit in!
