Welcome to RCTALK.COM! 😁😎👍
I see some heat shrink and missing pins etc.
If this was my truck, I'd be pulling the electronics to inspect the "repairs or mods" before I plugged in anything.
While its all on the bench, it will be much easier to decypher what has been done. You can bench test it all and even get your servo centered before you reinstall everything too.
Inspecting a used rc for breakage and worn parts is always a good idea anyways. 👍

I’m thinking the missing pin is so whoever had this before him could run an external receiver pack instead of running off the internal BEC on the ESC.

Assuming this is electric and not gas.

Channel 1 = steering servo’s
Channel 2 = ESC or Throttle Servo(only applicable if it’s a gasser)

I agree but if this were mine, I'd not roll the dice, nor trust the work that I see in those pics. A proper tear down on a 'new' used rc is always a good idea.

I’m in full agreeance with you on that. Part of the reason I’m typically against buying used… I always seem to end up dumping more money rebuilding the thing and fixing hodge podge repairs than I would’ve spent on a brand new one. Every now and then you find one someone actually cared for, but with all the snow in my area… it’s almost never the case. That’s dependent on an individuals location though. Judging by the rust in OP’s photo, I’d just order a bearing kit now. 🤣

I wish the OP the best of luck and hope he got a good deal! Hopefully he’s up and running without much hiccup and we can get some running videos! 😬
