Now I really hate you! 😝
That's killer man!

Thanks man! People been calling my junk the “LHS” due to my SN for right at two decades now, so I figured I needed to, or it was false advertising, and I just hate that..😂

These particular “multi-tool” I grabbed from Tekno are one of my best/favorite RC tool purchases I’ve made since being in the hobby. They payed for themselves the first day IMO..

Couple noteworthy bits here that a lot of folks overlook.. I always run my vent holes toward the REAR. Also I run my bleeder screws to the CENTER of the vehicle. Shock caps see a TON of punishment in 1/8 buggy, and truggy. It’s absolutely moronic to have those tiny bleeder screws facing where they see any abuse what so ever. I DO run my shock stand-off bushings inside out as well. I have done this for 20yrs. I’m honestly not sure why the manufacturers don’t write their manuals for this. I’ve had a bushing break before (20yrs ago-which is why I made the change), and it came apart, and beat the absolute shiit out of my shock cap, and I had to replace them. You can’t just buy ONE… After that, I flipped them. Now-when they fail, they physically cannot come out because the flat cannot get past the nut. Have yet to ruin annother shock cap in 20yrs. Just makes sense to me to run them this way..🤷🏻‍♂️

IMG_8111.webp

Finally get to try out my fancy pants VRP carbon fiber/billet/CNC’d shock stand.. Absolutely KILLER. Every other stand I’ve ever had SUCKS next to this thing. I’ve heard others be wary of it tipping over.. The balance is perfect. Empty, full, working on them, it’s just perfect IMO. Money well spent. Also came with a 1/10 carbon fiber plate, and a nice suede, drawstring, carrying bag… just bitchiin’.. Also has a magnet for your bleeder screws, and swanky black felt areas for your other hardware..

By the book..

Allowing them to purge what they will prior to doing a proper rebound procedure..

Completely assembled, and bleed. HelldammitYES. 🤩

IMG_8120.webp

Ok-not COMPLETELY completely assembled.. Spring cup retaining fasteners. I always run these facing the rear (obviously keeps them from being packed with dirt…🤷🏻‍♂️) and INBOARD. Looks like homemade shoes IMO facing toward the outside of the vehicle, and there is no downside, provided your arms have the room. My Associated buggy does not. Booooooo… 🙄☹️

IMG_8121.webp
IMG_8122.webp

Blue aluminum flanged Nyloc’s from 1up Racing.

IMG_8123.webp

Lower shock retaining screw. 5.5mm head. Be careful with these, you better have a quality driver, as the heads are shallow AF..
Do NOT over-tighten these.

IMG_8124.webp
IMG_8125.webp
IMG_8126.webp

Note the right side was black oxide (and the Tekno black oxide doesn’t seem to have rusting issues like most doing my personal experience. The left hand side (facing the front of the vehicle as if you’re working on it in front of you) is chrome…

IMG_8127.webp

This is because it’s left-handed thread. Helps to keep it from loosening due to the normal operation of the suspension travel, and arc in which it travels eleventybillion times per minute.. again-do NOT over-tighten..

IMG_8129.webp

OoooOoOoOooooOOOOOoooo!!! 🤩

Deadsexy front end if I’ve ever seen one..🤤

IMG_8131.webp
IMG_8132.webp

Let’s get the rears buttoned up!!!

IMG_8133.webp

Right handed on the right as if it’s in front of you to work on.

IMG_8134.webp

Left hand thread (chrome) on the left..

IMG_8135.webp

Seriously-you’d be amazed how many of us will F-this up not thinking about it-so I am beating it into your brains..😉

IMG_8136.webp

Toooooiiiiight like a tooooiiiiguh!! 🤤

IMG_8137.webp

The shorter rear spring provides much better control than a long spring of the same spring rate in rough conditions. We used to do this in the late ‘80’s in 1/10 as well. It absolutely works.

In with the Tony’s Screws once again..

IMG_8176.webp

To the spare hardware bag..

IMG_8177.webp

Stone guard first on the left side..

IMG_8178.webp
IMG_8179.webp

The kit does NOT call for threadlocker, but I’ve had them back out before. They go into the 7075 chassis, and the stoneguards, they’re securing are plastic/composite. They flex. Do yourself a favor, and use your brain y’all.

Radio box.. One thing I have never been excited about with Tekno is there lack of any real solution to keeping your radio gear free of excessive dirt, and debris.. It’s OFFroad-so it’s gonna get in there no matter what-but radio gear isn’t cheap, and I’d like to at least SLOW DOWN the amount of shiit that goes in with it..

IMG_8183.webp
IMG_8184.webp

An old bit of super quality packaging bits from one of my Tekin digital servo’s. I saved this stuff SPECIFICALLY for this duty right here. We will see what I come up with..

IMG_8185.webp

So.. I’ve got copious options to choose from.. Or maybe all of them.. Chopped up ShiitMat from RaceCraft that I used pieces of to do a “custom fit” on my bench, as well as at my toolbox, adjacent from the bench where the Associated Nitro buggy sits, the Tekin servo closed cell foam packaging, as well as a bit of -as @SoCalTazer says, “Das Snatch Patch” 🤣 from RC Body Armor. I had picked it up because it was cheap, I had a bunch of other stuff in my order, and figured I could easily find a use for it, and test its durability. I also had some other foams, that didn’t make the “cut”..😅 @Chubaka would be proud… or disgusted..🤔🤣

IMG_8186.webp
IMG_8187.webp
IMG_8188.webp
IMG_8189.webp

Decided “Das Snatch Patch” would be ideal for some cushion/protection via the floor, and ceiling of the radio box.. I have another plan for the “seal”, and trimming down my useable real estate to suit my needs, and keep everything neatly in one place. I absolutely LOATHE a wiring rat’s nest of bullshiit.. Especially with a $110 RX bouncing around, having the shiit beaten out of it the entire time I’m driving..🙄🤷🏻‍♂️

IMG_8190.webp

Almost there.

Just carving foam turkey over here..😅

I like it. Let’s locker up.

Why does the inside of that cover look like it was FDM printed, but the outside looks molded? Just curious how they made this electronics box.
Screenshot_20250114_052113.webp

Splackin’ it down to its forever home with a couple M3 12.9’s..

IMG_8196.webp

Ummmm, Nosir..🤣

IMG_8197.webp

I prefer to run them the height of the rear tower. Unless the radio box is up front-in which case, I go with the height of-you guessed it; the front tower..😎 I typically top them off after a 5/16” u bend of the antenna with an MIP driver tip condom.. Unfortunately I’ve used them all up, so this one isn’t straight pimpalicious like the rest of the herd… So much cry…😫

IMG_8200.webp
IMG_8201.webp
IMG_8202.webp

I really dig how it came out.. I made an incision from the top, to the bottom of the “window” right down the outside corner of the foam. The wiring will all pass right through, and should seal nicely.

IMG_8203.webp

Futaba R404-SBS RX, NitroPro 500-Pro2, and a Reedy electronic switch. 🤩

IMG_8204.webp

Moarrrr ultra speshul modificatin’… Gonna knock off the locators for the T/B servo, just as I did for steering.. Like I said-I run grommets. I don’t know a single driver personally who will benefit from the loss of the extremely slight deflection exhibited by the rubber isolators that keep their high dollar servo’s happy.. I’m no different.

You are asking the wrong guy as far as that goes lol.. My non-2.2 *uggies look identical aside from the print.. No clue why, or how they did it.. I’d be willing to bet just for aesthetics. The Tekno owners are crazy about that kind of stuff, especially with their decals.. There’s always some random 80’s, or 90’s Nintendo game shiit on the decal sheet of every vehicle.. Or some movie stuff.. Ya got me homie! 😅

Pre-Op….

Of course I ditched the SHCS, and steel M3 flat washers for more Tony’s 12.9 flat heads, and swanky gloss black countersunk washers from Team Brood..

IMG_8213.webp

I know y'all can read-but 2S 2600mAh LiHV “hump pack” 7.6v from the fine folks at Protek..

IMG_8214.webp

I know this thing BARELY slides into the battery box of my Tekno nitro vehicles..

IMG_8215.webp

That foam job on the Rx box 🤩

Very, very nicely done sir!

And just for clarification - that Reedy switch has the same hole spacing as the Tekno mount? That's good to know!

Or is it meant for use on a Tekno?

Dudemanbro… I just love when a plan comes together.. 😎 if I’m not careful-somebody might think I know wtf I’m doin’…🤣 Better watch my step!

IMG_8226.webp

I see so many people just wad their external antenna RX’s up in the box, or wound up and stuck in a piece of heat shrink tubing.. If ya wanna do that-why buy an external antenna RX in the first place? 🙄 I simply run around 3” out of the body, and what’s left in a gentle loop or two in the box, protected by the receiver, and foam. Has yet to let me down ever.

I’ll come back to this when I bind, and setup this vehicle with the 10PX. Also that switch plate deal is gonna get some attention as well. I’m doing EXACTLY what I did on my nitro truck. Been waiting a daamned year and a half to finally use that material. Gonna take an hour or two, but I’m very happy with how it comes out, and it’s a bit of a sentimental thing..

I’m fried..

Well this evening’s coming session is gonna be a KILLER one.. I’m pumped AF…

Thanks for following along, and keeping my ass honest over here fellas! Goodnight!! 😅

I must say-I’m truly SHOCKED at the traffic here as of late.. You guys rock!!! 🍻🤘

Ok, ok-lessee what we have next on the itinerary… oh wow-could it be-nooooooo way, that’s so weird! 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

A few extra speshul bags… 😈

View attachment 215592

This one is gonna take a while. These are getting a fair amount of attention, but the pistons, and oils will still be by the book. This is in fact; KILLING ME-as I have a brand new set of fancy-schmancy bypass pistons w/a veritable PLETHORA of different valves from the man himself over at VRP.. KILLING ME, I tell you… -but I said setup, and alignment would be as close to “kit build specs” as possible.. I should really get much more out of any changes I make after getting acclimated with the new chassis, and running everything in this way however..

Spare parts pile..

View attachment 215594View attachment 215595

Now for some “prep work”.. I AM gonna be doing some travel limiters, front & rear-for both compression, and down travel.. I am already confident that I don’t need ALL of the travel this buggy has available. Simply limiting with droop screws is not sufficient IMO.

I love it man. Every time I read through one of your builds, I learn something cool. I can't wait to build a Tekno to see if I can implement some of your ideas.
