I understand that, of course, you want to keep a balanced lipo battery. But many chargers have the fast charge feature; do some of you alternate between fast charge and balance charge? Or just one or the other?

I ONLY balance charge my lipos at 1C rate. Fast charging is asking for trouble. Buy an extra battery for less down time rather than risk overheating or damaging a lipo.

Balance charging is the best method. It will keep the cells closely balanced and will help with the longevity of the pack as well as keep the temps and chance of explosion down.

My Hyperion charger has a built-in balancer so I always charge and balance at the same time. I don't care who claims what. For safety and prolonged life of the pack charging at the 1C rate is best.

For storing longer than a day without use, I will bring the pack down to about 60% capacity. Easy on my Hyperion since it has a function to do so automatically. After that I will check them once a month for long term storage.

when charging at 1c how longs it take to charge?

sorry for reviving a semi-dead thread

One hour maybe longer, depending how much the cells are out of balance. 1C is charging a pack at it's rated capacity, so if you have a 5000mah pack 1C is 5A charge rate.

I balance charge every time. When storing the packs I put them on storage mode on my Hyperion charger, and about once a month I fully charge them and put them on storage mode again.
