Hey guys. I'm currently running my Rusty with the VXL system in it. I'm gonna get this battery for it.
http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-40c-5000-2s1p-hardcase-direct.html

I have one question about that battery. I know the connector it comes with isn't a traxxas connector. How would i connect it to my esc?

Also, if I use that battery and switch to lipo, would i need to change the gearing? Right now i'm running the stock gearing. I'm new to lipo so sorry for the newbie questions.

Thanks!:D

You can either purchase or make an adapter. The other possibility is to change the battery's connector to a Traxxas style connector.

You would have to solder a traxxas connector on the lipo or have an RC buddy or maybe your local hobby store do it for you if you dont have the proper stuff and/or know how.

As for gearing on a 2S Lipo with the Stock 3500KV motor in it and the stock , If memory serves 83T spur gear, then I would probably start out with a 30 or 31T pinion and adjust from there according to personal preference and motor heat.

Just buy a few (so you have spares) and a 15-20 dollar weller 40-60W soldering iron from radio shack or amazon.com and you can do you own connectors. (oh and dont forget a little bit of shrink tubing.) Or if nothing else just take it down to a hobby shop they'll do it for you for a few bucks. (some places might even do it for just buying the connector).

I run a traxxas rustler vxl 3s lipo, 31 pinion and 76 spur. But in order for me to keep the temps down I have to keep the lid off. Advantage of this setup is the insane speed. It must be going at least 60!!!

Just incase you guys are interested heres a couple of review vids from Jang on various lipo packs. In this first video he reviews gensacearespammers, Sky, CBP, Turnigy, and venom packs.

Heres a review from Jang on the Nano Techs also.

I would just go with a traxxas battery OR get the traxxas connector for the battery because i believe that if you change the connector for the esc it voids the warrenty.
