I'm about to buy a RC...unpainted body(ill be getting a silverado body...cuz i have a silverado and all)

now when i paint it...do i paint the outside of the body or the underside?

I'm either gonna paint it a metallic blue just like my silverado...

or i might paint it like a flat gray with flat black flames and white pinstripes along the flames.

however...i know on a real car obviously u paint the outside part....but on tehse u paint the inside? is that right? how exactly would i paint the main body gray, than some black flames on teh front and a whtie stripe along teh flames?

its the only thing that confuses me now lol, i know i want a HPI Nitro MT2 18ss kit, and wha tradio/servos i want...but this painting thing is way diff than what i thought u did...so I'm completely lost on the painting...looked at lots of pics...but still lost on how to do it...i r noob

you paint the inside

you paint in reverse order for painting the inside
first the pinstripes
2nd the flames
lastly the main body colour

p.s. the more expierienced painters may be able to tell you a better way

looked at a guide, think i got it figured out.

i got the flame mask i want already selected out.

so this is what'd i do...

lay down the flame mask, and 4 layers of clear mask after it..

cut out around the flame mask and maybe 1/8" - 1/4" away from the flame mask for the white pinstripe...peel that think outline away...paint it white 3-4coats i suppose. than peel off the flame mask and paint the black flames, than peel off the rest and paint it gray.

i got it now....anyway i can keep it a dull/flat color and not shiny?

i usually do the masks on my bodies. i use rattle cans. I apply the mask, shoot the body color. then i back the body color well with whatever color backing the color calls for. Usually sprint white, or Indy silver. then i lift the mask and shoot the color that the flames or design is gonna be. then back that.

The backing colors for the main color are usually Opaque and do not allow for the flame color to bleed thru.

I have read on the HPI site, that to get a flat color you paint that color on the OUTSIDE of the body.
