Finally… Some light at the end of the tunnel..🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

All calibrated/dialed in.. Took some finesse, but she’s money, and ready to knock out 108 1/8 buggy, and truggy tires/wheels.. Saved a shiit ton sourcing some modeling clay, rather than buying from AKA or someone through an online vendor, or LHS.

Using a spare wheel hex, and nut to center them up in the cones. I’m excited AF. 😜🤩

I've seen these is it just relevant for racing? none of my wheels are bal;anced and its a pain in my butt when i have one wheel thats wobbling because of the silicone insert wanting to not seat well. would this help me for that issue? its only in my crawlers that i run into this. all my glued tires seem to be balanced ok.
but the crawlers tires oof not so much

This will not help with what you’re describing. The only thing that can get your inserts in correctly/straight, is you when you are mounting your tires up.. This is a balancer. It can only recognize an imbalance, and you then add weight until said imbalance has been rectified.

I can just about assure you that if you have not balanced your tires, they are likely NOT “balanced ok”.. quality control isn’t that over the top in expendable/consumable RC tires.. sometimes you’ll get lucky, but not consistently..

I like my vehicles as predictable as possible, and I don’t like wasting bearings, when they could be lasting far longer had I taken a minute to balance my tires.. 🤙

Ok, no problem. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

This will absolutely benefit truggy, and monster truck the most, but I see major help to my buggy tires as well. It’s definitely a noticeable difference down multiple avenues.

well i’ll add it the list then 🥲 also realized I need a way to clean tires

Be careful with that.. Depends on how you have yours vented as to how you wanna clean them.. Definitely don’t want waterlogged foams..

current tires have holes on the side, I still am not sure what the vent is for lol

also why are tires so dirty when brand new🤣 there’s got to be an easy way of cleaning them

Yeah-they’re vented then. Good. Don’t get any water in them when you clean ‘em. Simple green, a brush, and warm water.

Some racers don’t balance their wheels.
Some bashers do.

The divide is between the mentality; a careful person will balance all of their cars and a careless one won’t bother at all.

Wheel imbalance can shake things quite violently but it can be difficult to observe due to the small movement and fast rpm. Racers may think about performance gains but balanced wheels can help your bearings and other parts last longer.

You don’t necessarily need a dedicated balancer to do this. Just an axle on smooth bearings and an interface that fits the wheels.

Let the wheel stop where it stops and put a drop of hot glue in the 12 o’clock position inside the wheel. When the wheel no longer stops in a certain position, you’re good. Even if you don’t do a perfect job, ironing out the worst wrinkles gets you most of the benefits.

How are you not tired dealing with all these tire-ing things 🤔 🤪
I literally love everything about 1/8 off-road. 🤣🤷🏻‍♂️

Even the mundane shiit is calming to me. I never get to just sit down, and focus on one thing, so it’s a welcome distraction. 😉

what’s the tape for?
Precisely marking my imbalance. This is where I apply the weight, unless I split it up. Just depends how bad it is..

I swear the first time you balanced just one set, you’d wonder how you ever got along without taking care of your stuff.. VERY rarely do you ever get “lucky”.. Some take more than others, but as shown here-it’s a fair amount of weight required to get a wheel/tire assembly right…

😳🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

@paytonimusrex I replied above, and it was merged into a reply you had already seen. Didn’t want ya thinkin I just peaced out..😎

Been slowly humpin’ on ‘em throughout the course of the day.. No typical Sunday Funday, as routine cleaning at the Littlemotor Hobby Shop (LHS😉) & Speedway became an impromptu “Fall Cleaning” sesh.. Then throw down on some dinner, and now back to bidness…Coming along..

A little under 20% of the way done.. 😅🤣

don’t forget your ice cream🤣 but also you got so many wheels wow
GOTTA have the ice cream…🤩

108 more between buggy, and truggy. Most of the old ones have been in rotation for two sets of tires, so these are a welcomed addition.. No sense saving the OG’s again..

how many total sets do you have? and how often are you buying new tires

These two batches I’m doing of buggy, and truggy total 27 sets. I’ve got (3) truggs, and (2) bugs atm, and two more e-buggies coming shortly.. in the neighborhood of 50 total including what’s being replaced. I’ll gather them as I see some I know I’ll need when they’re a good deal, and typically rotate some out, and some in.. I just happen to be doing an absurd amount this go ‘round, as I added a vehicle or two, to the stable, and knew I had two more coming very soon.

I run on a mixed bag of surfaces on a handful of private backyard tracks, so I have what I feel covers multiple vehicles, and under multiple conditions. I have a few double sets, as I have a few double vehicles, and some nitro, and brushless versions of the same. Typically what works well for a specific surface, and condition that day on that truck, will work well on one or two more I’m running.

Like I said-I gather them over time as I foresee needing them, and the RC slush fund allows. It just so happened that I ended up doing a mass punch, clean, prep, mount, glue, and balance all at once this time.. I knew I’d be doing “yearly” maintenance, and a couple rebuilds, as well as a new build or two, so I just ended up with a LOT of stuff being completed together. Not USUALLY this busy on RC stuff.. 😅🤷🏻‍♂️

That being said……The buggy batch is wrapped up, and ready to rock..🤩

That’s a decent amount of weight as you can see.. Just under 3oz of weight over (12) sets..

Out of 48 total wheel/tire assemblies; TWO took zero weight. One was a JConcepts Dirt Bite aqua (A2) on a Promotion wheel, and the other was a TZO 202 soft on a TZO wheel.

The worst were some GRP Cubic’s on DE Speedline’s, and some VP Pro Turbo Trax Evo’s that I ordered in Soft, but showed up HARD AF, and the set of ProMotion dished wheels they went on actually had (2) with quite a bit of high/low runout.. Sure seems like the hole is off center.. So those were super fun, and took a decent amount of weight… Still won’t make ‘em ROUND though..🙄

Not too awful bad overall. The GRP’s were to be expected, but the ProMotion wheels being off center was not typical for those at all.. Ya win some-ya lose some..

Truggy next, and donezo finally… althoughhhhhh-there is a distinct possibility I’ll be grabbing (4) more specific sets for the new buggy in particular.. I know-I need my head examined…🤪🤷🏻‍♂️🤣
