L ooking to upgrade 1/10th E-Revo VXL transmission

i have a erevo 1.0 and i am looking to upgrade transmission and was trying to find out about vxl transmission and what i need to upgrade it spoke with traxxas and tech support telling me i have to replace motor esc and transmission all in one shot any help would be greatly appreciated cause finding 1,0 parts are coming harder to find

You can get the complete (current) E-Revo transmission and motor mounting plate at Jenny's RC for much less money than from Traxxas.
