I'm considering a Kyosho Turbo Optima purchase, after discovering it's existence many years after my dream of owning an original Optima. I'm overwhelmed with the choice of motor/battery combinations available, and am looking for some advice. I will be purchasing and building for pleasure only, and have no intentions of racing it. I'm not interested in maximum speed as much as I am getting a decent run time from the motor/battery combination. I would also like to stick with Kyosho if possible. Any advice would be appreciated.

So if you want to stay with Kyosho stuff, you'll want this ESC

And for the motor, I'd go with the 15.5T motor. You could go with the slower 19.5T, and gear up on your pinion a few teeth to get the same speed, or use the stock pinion since you don't really want speed as you said.

It will be fun either way. Both are right in the middle of the Kyosho Lemans stuff. The Kyosho store on Amazon has the best prices, but you can also check www.kyoshoamerica.com.

Thank you sir! I was looking at the 15T Kyosho Lemans motor and ESC.
You're going to love the build. The manual is great, and it's a fairly involved build, but I really enjoy the Optima chassis. I still have a few Legendary series I want to get, but I have all my favs so far.

Still gotta paint the body for this Turbo Scorpion.

If its the Kyosho gear you need, the 240S esc & 15 turn motor is my 1st suggestion.
It should fit in pretty easily and works great with the aluminum chassis to help dissipate heat.
Lemans motors have always been great.

I can't wait to see your build! 😎
