I'm having the same problem, were you able to fix it?

Make sure you have bearings on the spur gear. they slide right in the middle on both sides. I think the part# is BRG-0002.

First replace the stock clutch needle bearing with standard size bearings. They should be 5 x 8 you will need 2 and 1-5 x 8 flange bearing. Then you will need to stiffen the chassis. Then replace the worn gears.
