I scored this partial roller a few weeks back, promptly went through the chassis, but then hit a brick wall when I went looking for parts. There just really isn't anything out there for these critters. So I put it up on eBay at $99 for awhile. Bunch of watchers, but no one ever pulled the trigger.

Last night I decided to end the auction and go ahead with stuff I had on hand. This nifty little vintage kit now sports an LRP Z.18S engine with a Traxxas pull start, Tamiya flywheel & clutch shoes, and an OFNA clutch bell. It's secured into the chassis with modified nitro TC3 engine mounts, and breaths through a TC3 header with a pipe from God-knows-where. It had the original wheels, but one was irreparably broken, so it now rolls on Associated RTR SCT tires & wheels. Completing the conglomeration is an RC10GT pitman arm bell crank and one modified Associated 1/4" axle stub to replace a broken stock piece. Center diff filled with 60K oil & sealed, and a Jeep Commanche body installed (the paint is not my fault, bought it that way)

Kinda bouncy on the SCT tires, but it does pretty well over rough terrain, and is pretty quick with that .18, despite still being broken in. Kind of a pain to refuel with the exhaust, but it was the best I could do with on-hand parts, since there's no way that .18 would breath through the stock manifold/pipe combo piece. I'll probably switch out to some Traxxas offset wheels to get a little wider track, but otherwise I'm pretty well done with it.

Just thought I'd share, since this ain't something you come across every day.

Nice job on making due with what you have!
I'm pretty sure I looked at that rig like 200 times. As I go on eBay every day multiple times a day to see what I find!
I'm a fan of the pipe and the body. I owned a 1990 jeep Comanche that was all camo and lifted but snapped the frame wheeling:(
Anyways nice build!

Bummer!

I, too, have a 1990 Comanche, which is the reason I bought this body, despite the hideous paint scheme. Mine is a somewhat odd critter, being 2WD with the long (7') bed. Not the metric ton package; just a Dana 35 axle. Rock solid little truck, though. I put a '91 HO long block in it (still Renix engine management), and average just under 21 MPG with the AX-15 trans.

Have plans (and parts) to convert to 4WD, just haven't got around to it yet. Don't really need to with my other trucks:

The second is, of course, the namesake of my username. A 1966 Kaiser M35A2 "deuce and a half".

Thats a cool creation, it looks like a sleeper.
It reminds me of a concoction I created years ago.

Thanks for clarifying your name. I assumed you owned a 1966 Chevy Nova.
