i have recently brought a kyosho alpha 3 ( i think thats what it's called) off a friend who hasn't used it for a couple of year.

the spur gear was missing a tooth so i replaced it with a new gear, spent about 4 hours trying to get it to run then finally managed it after relising that glow plug started had lost all it's charge :S

however when i did get it going and started to drive around i noticed after that over half the teeth on the new gear was missing, so put old one bk in stated up again and it just shreaded all the teeth off.

what has gone wrong with it?

waggy :)

You were too loose or too tight on the mesh. Get it tight as possible, with it still being able to spin freely at least one rotation. A little tight is better than loose.
The other things, loose chassis bolts, no loc-tite, gears not square with each other broken or bent chassis components. Clutch overheating, could be from too higfh an idle or broken clutch spring. Could be from grease on the CB and shoes..

i'm currently having a new spur cog made up for me, however i noticed that the driver ocog on the engine was loose.

it's a kyosho gx12

is there anything to stop this movement, or is it ment to be there?
