Only when your wife is blowing up your cell phone and absolutely needs to know what "DA" stands for do you realize that up and out of reach isn't quite so up and out of reach. So after the blood sampling, toxicology work, chext x-ray, charcoal treatment and the ambulance ride from the urgent care to one of the best childrens hospitals in the country I'd say I probably don't have a single dime for anything hobby related for the rest of this year or more.

But don't worry, she's quite alright. Obviously she got pretty dehydrated very quickly and some burns in her esophagus but she's been running around and being every bit of 2 years old today (well almost 2... in May). Apparently the charcoal is pretty nasty on the way out. Isnt' she just adorable? :)

Had to read that a couple of times before I realized what happened.

Good to hear she is alright.

A cutey for sure.

Very cute. Very glad to hear she's alright bro. Guess a child's curiosity will always be there, not always for the best.

Just wait, the fun hasn't begun yet. I have a 15yr old son, and a 13yr old daughter. While they were adorable when they were babies, and yes, too curious, they aren't so adorable now. This won't be your last panic moment.

Glad to hear she's ok though, she is a little cutie.

I'm very gladt to hear she will be ok but I'm a little slow so I have to ask... what is DA?

DA = Denatured Alcohol

Glad to hear that she's okay after that. When I was really young (4 or 5 years old), my mom referred to me as a "house ape." I climbed anything to get to whatever looked interesting. You might want to look at a paint cabinet to lock that stuff up so she can't get into it.

I'm so glad to hear that she's ok. I've also had a few scares with my kids. My daughter stopped breathing when she was 8 months and then she had seizures when she was 12 months. She has not had one since we had he tonsils and adnoids removed. Take care and keep us posted.

damn bro...i'm glad she is okay.
having a 2 yr old daughter at home i know exactly what you mean in terms of curiousity.
keep us posted...a definitely a cutie

Man what a scare that must have been! :OMG: I'm sooooo glad for you guys that she's ok!

Yeah, she sure is cute too, must have got that from her mom! :hehe:

I knew that DA was usually denatured alcohol, but I was confused by "blowing up" the cell phone. I thought she had swallowed a battery.
Definitely a super cutie, but tell her (for future reference) that it needs to be distilled, NOT denatured.

:drink:

yeah Ralph, that's the thing. From what we were told and from the research I've done it seems that the alcohol itself is not the problem but the additives they put in it to make it taste bad. DA is actually ethanol (which is safe to drink) but with additives, usually methanol and it's the methanol that is the poison. I was reading on wikipedia that between 1926 and 1933 when the U.S. gov put the denatured program into effect that an estimated 10,000 people died due to poisoning.

I need to get another LiftnLock. I have too much stuff.

Oh man Josh that is scary stuff. I have been shot at in car crashes and never have been as scared as when it is one of mine in jeopardy. Glad to hear she is ok. All mr RC stuff is in a locked room.....just in case my kid is anything like I was. Oh years she IS damn cute too.

Damn man, that must've been quite a scare.

The DA we have over here has a vomiting agent in it, same boiling point as ethanol. I thought it was the same everywhere.

I'm so happy and relieved she's OK Josh. I'm locking all my potentially dangerous chemicals up right now.
