Just got a Nano

The Nano Battery life is going to be much better then the standard iPod for the pure fact that it is a flash drive and not a actual moving Hard Drive like the standard iPod.

The First thing I did when I purchaced my standard iPod was get a clear plastic screen protector... and one for the chrome back. I am anal like that LOL

I think because you can view Pictures on the nano screen is why people would complain more... if there are some scratches and you can still view the Mp3 info etc that is not a heart attack... but if your trying to view naked pics of some guys GF that could be a bitch.....

The scratching issue isn't that big of a deal for me. Its going to be in my car for the most part and I have lots of different cases I can hold it in if I decide to take it on the run. As soon as skins are available for it I will get one.

Ill finish up the install of my accessory adapter today that allows me to have two additional inputs on my factory head unit. Ill post pics of my Nano mounted in my new car.

I have ordered in some pocket docks and will have them in 3-4 days. Ill need to see if they are the same as the ones that are being sold on flea-bay.

My battery lasted 8 hours and was still playing strong when I unplugged it. At first I was concerned because within an hour the meter said it was half empty. Within 4 hours it read close to empty but kept playing. It looks like its not accurate at all.

Does anyone know if you can replace the actual case on ipods? It looks like the nano is a two piece, thats why I ask. I can't wait till they come out with a protective case.

I know I'm bring this out from the dead, but I just bought one for my wife and I'm wondering what you carry for it Ed, and some prices. Mainly looking for the incar setup.

I'm not carrying anything for the nano at this time.
I have to place a 750.00 order minimum with my distributor and don't see that happening soon.

I do like the road trip series of accessories.

Thanks for the tip Ed, have you heard of griffin iTrip?

BTW how long do your batts last on a full charge?

I'd steer clear of any fm modulators or over the radio transmitters for the ipod. Best connection is direct through an aux input on your car stereo.

I have had the nano going for over 8 hours on a full charge with the backlight turned off.

6-8 hours on the battery.
If your playing through a stock sound system or don't have an aux input the modulator is your only choice unless you can ad an aux module to you head unit.

Another method that you can use is Alpine or Pioneers' latest headsets. They have a direct support for ipods. They require a full-on ipod, not the nano or mini (has to have the dock connector). Did that on my car, and it makes the headset jack/aux in hookup sound like static.

Nitrost,

I don't know from personal experience, however I've been told if your radio has a connection for an ipod (which it does via that cable) then it actually does sound pretty good. It's the ones that transmit the ipod via a radio station so your car can dial into that station and listen to the ipod are the ones I've heard different stories about.

I installed a HU into my fiance's ride and it has a jack to plug her Nano into and it sounds great she loves it.

Do any of you guys know where I can get some info about putting in dates, pictures etc into the nano. The manual that comes with it isn't the best manual I've ever seen.

That's the new revision of the KCA-420i that I have. Basically the same thing, only the control unit is integrated into the head unit.

Overall, I'd say get it. You'll be amazed at the sound clarity. Even one of my clients (who is into car audio competitions) said it sounds pretty clear. Right up there with cd's (and that's an mp3 at 128k).

www.ipodlounge.com is a great informaton resource for anything ipod

When I installed itunes, I designated my picture folder as the itunes picture folder also. Anytime I copy pictures to that folder it automatically updates my nano when I sync it.

Well guys I got a griffin iTrip auto, and I'm not impressed to say the least. I'm using my stock radio in my Trailblazer and I don't think I can direct connect to it. I have no casset deck in it either so that is out.

I'm looking to get the best sound quality through the radio for my wife and this isn't going to cut it. I have xm in my other car that runs through a fm channel and sounds 300% better then the griffin does. HELP!!!

What year is the trailblazer and does it have a cd changer control? Is it the Bose system?

If you want to keep the factory deck here is an option. A bit pricey.

You might be better off getting an aftermarket deck with an auxilary input and doing a direct connection.

Here is a pic of my old car with a $99 Blaupunkt deck and direct connect.

There are many choices now with aux inputs, as stated before Alpine and Pioneer make very nice decks with ipod control built in.
