I've got about a grand into my 1:1 sound system, and it ain't even close to finished. I'm dumping close to $300 in it for the next two weeks.

And I still need to buy door speakers, rear speakers, tweeters, and a head unit. On top of that, I still need a new battery, and a new alternator. So I got probably another $500 to go.

And with no job, the project is going to take some time.

But I am sound proofing the car this week all by myself and not having someone do it. I ask this place and they charge like 2k for it. I'm doing it for like $140

I guess I just don't get it, what don't you realize?

Did you realize no one really cares. :stick:
I get it now, sorry I didn't see who's post it was as first.

He just came to the realization it would be cheaper to put wheels on his stereo.

What is the point of dumping that kind of money into just a sound system in a car? To loose your hearing by age 30? I had a buddy who did that. His car ended up getting broken into and the crooks took everything and he was back to listening to his walkman while he drove to work.

It depends on how loud you listen to it. My stereo right now can hit about 137db continuously. But since i'm have serious vibrations throughout the car, I listen to it a lot lower than what it's capable of.

When I get done with everything, i'll probably turn the power to my subs way down and keep it low. Until I do an spl competition next year.

And I don't bump in parking lots so no one knows I have a system

Lol, you know, if I did put new wheels and tires on my car. I'd still have to do suspension work. It just wouldn't look right. It'd actually be more to do it that way. Cuz i'd want some nice Tein $800 coilovers plus the $800-$1200 wheels/tires. Then i'd have to get sway bars and all that.

Hey, I had almost $5000 invested in my car stereo back in the early 90's Damn near cracked the back hatch glass but it was all good. In total a little over 1000 Watts RMS and 3000 max.

God I miss car stereo....now i just listen to the stock kit. But DAMN do i miss the BASS BASS BASS BASS BASS .....

Kind of like the concept of shoe-horning my Picco .26 into my micro RS4. It's there if I need it, but I don't HAVE to go WOT all the time.

I'm going to invest in hearing-aid companies.

Good plan, thanks for the tip. I see (oops), hear that kind of stuff all too often here. I can see having that kind of setup for competitions, but most guys here just ride around with them wide open all the time.

btw, i think when I get done with the system, i'll be somewhere in the mid 140's.

lol

I spent under $300 for mine
1 15" Kicker Comp VR
1 Kenwood 400 watt amp

at Scrapin the Coast this summer, I got second in my division (Hatch: 0-18). I hit 148 db, and the speaker wasn't even properly broken in yet... You've spent way too much, I feel sorry for you. :)

I saw this one kid riding down the road with his "boom box" on wheels, What ever he was listening to must have hit jus tthe right note. I know you guys have seen the back glass "bouncing" well his just blew into a million peices. I almost wrecked cause I was laughing so hard. Hey Fasteddy, When you find the place to buy some of that stock count this old fart in too.

please refrain from hearing loss jokes, they make me extremely angry (grrrr.) that someone is bashing on me.

LOL man I can see maybe puting some like tweaters or avouple of speakers but a whole speaker setup for what? even tho you dont blast it out whats the point?

Well what's the point of buying a 50k zo6 and never going past the speed limit? Or buying a lamborghini to drive only 20 miles a year and have it sit in your garage?

I personally don't wanna go completely deaf so I won't blast. But if there's some guy who thinks his system is the poop, i'll out blast him. Or i'll turn up the system in a competition. But I like my hearing.

So in other words your just getting it for just in case reasons? Z06's rule my friend has one we got it up to what was it 160 ya that was freking awsome!

More of, i'd like the power if I need it. And I would like to do competition every year. But not hardcore, just a "for the hell of it"

Well i'm not hardcore, but the last one I did I didn't even place that high cuz they went by # of subwoofers instead of power.

And the most you'll win is maybe a gift certificate and a trophy. It's more bragging rights. Kinda like racing r/c's

Ya cool hope ypu win (I can't compete my car dosent have speakers.):eyepatch:
