I just can't imagine Tony Stewart being happy driving a Toyota.... then again... Toyota has really deep pockets. Could be a good thing for both Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota. I guess they want that first cup win bad, and it looks like they will get it with JGR.

Tom

I wouldn't be surprised to see smoke racing for a new owner next year. I would not like seeing him in a Yota.

Considering Toyota's current record in the Cup, I don't think we'll be seeing a whole lot of Stewart/Hamlin/Bush next season....

That is what makes this a strange move for JGR. At least in my opinion. Toyota hasn't exactly lit it up this year, and even with a couple of decent runs could even be classified as being competitive. JGR must know something that we don't about Toyota, but why would a team that has been successful and threat to win each and every week go to a manufacturer that can barely qualify for a race, much less win one. Look at Team RedBull. They have probably spent twice what most teams have spent and have not been competitive. Maybe it is the fact that JGR will get more money from Toyota than Chevy. GM has been hurting financially. Who knows... Just seems to be an odd move. Great for Toyota... I am curious as to what Tony has to say about it, although I doubt we will ever know. I am sure there is a gag order in place. NASCAR has shown that even on a show that is supposed to be in your face and wide open that they will throw out a fine for things they don't like.

Very interesting move to say the least.

One thing get's my attention. It doesn't surprise me that many people may think that Tony won't be happy in a Toyota... but why not? Maybe it's only me but I never got any impression that he was a die hard Chevy guy. I mean.. the guy came from the IRL, and IRL = Honda. IMO, I don't think Tony gives a crap what he drives, as long as he can win in it. Which he will.

Hey Gibbs ran Pontiacs successfully when nobody else did, why is Toyaota going to be any different. I think Gibbs Racing will bring a lot to the table.

Contracts and sponsorship, he also owns race teams sponsored by Chevy.

Very true, they might make it interesting.

the way i see it, toyota gets a big racing name like Tony, and JGR gets fatter pockets. its probably all about money for both companies.

This season toyota has a bunch of no names running them. Waltrip has only won 2 or 3 times in his whole career, ups man is a washup. Getting some big names running toys will make a difference and prob put them compatable with the big 3.

Since the COT will be used in every race next year all you need is a good engine.Because the setups Gibbs has now for the Chevy COT should work for the Toyota COT..And their current COT program is probally the best there is.Hamlin has lead the most laps in the COT races. But lets talk about what's going on right now.The chasers better look out for Kurt Busch because he is peaking at the right time. And he has the same car that won Pocono and Michigan..So he is going to be something to deal with at Cali..

wow... i lost my respect to JGR for doing this. I dono who to root for anymore, looks like and only Jr next year.

I think it will be more easy for toyota to get into a race now that they will have top 35 in owner points at the start of a season.I dont know for sure if that .is how it works but i think toyota just bought there way into the races next season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO FIGURE MONEY TALKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure Joe Gibbs is very upset to hear that and will immediately switch back to the company that obviously wasn't throwing that much support behind behind them.

Let's face it, Toyota is handing ford and chevy (gm) their asses to them on a platter when it comes to real world sales. They have deep pockets and they are willing to pony up and make it right. Neither ford nor chevy have done anything to step up their game and have only sat back on their laurels and relied on the tried and true redneck that thinks "American cars are the only way to go" when in fact most of them aren't even made in America anymore thanks to NAFTA, union wages (think highly overpaid) and union "quality" (read total piece of poop).
