After breaking In my O.S.18 everything works great.....I mean this is a good engine....idles great...tons of power.....and talk about fast.....but why is it so hard to start....is it me or is it the engine.....I mean I have lots of nitro engines experiences...... like airplanes.. but not much with cars....It takes a lot of priming and pulling to start it.

Lot's of compression in that mill.
It will get easier after a few quarts.

I have the super nitro with the prime stick(button) you just push down and it moves the fuel to the carb.

I always have to dump some fuel into the carb to get mine to start. I could crank it for days, but when I put a drop or two in the carb, she starts right up.

i prime mine and when it starts hitting its very hard to pull. i have to loosen the plug a bit first.

Well I have to push the prime botton about 8 or 9 times and then pull the starter no less than 20 times then it either cranks or locks up........I'm glad to hear it will get better with time tho....I just hope the pull starter don't break from so much pulling.

I heard those motors are junk anyways, I'll swap you my Revo's .15 and pay the shipping to help you out with it ;) J/k

I'm thinking of buying this motor my self for my Revo in the very near future.

You guy's take it easy on the O.S......I think it's a great engine with lots of good points and just that one bad.....(Really is a b**ch to start)......and oh yes strong is short for armstrong not that I ain't tho.:dancin:

Why do you guy's call engines mill's?????

I've been wondering the same thing...It's more of that terminology that gets me lost. Well, I'm always lost, it just makes it worse lol

just as this gentleman said it will get easier with time ,
and it honestly sounds like your over priming ,if your like are light blue or clear you can see the fuel line gettign darker as the it getes closer to the carb prime it till it just reaches the carb housing and then just a 1/2 push more
then put your igniter on and let sit a sec or 2 then pull it it should pop off after 2 or 3 pulls ,if it gets hard to pull then it is becoming flooded stop and remove the fuel from the engine and try again without priming

Yes, I'm thinking everythng will smooth out over time.......just needed to know if others had this problem or was I doing something wrong to ruin my engine.....I'v had good luck with OS in the past....what % of nitro do you guy's use.

Yeah, I've never got that! - Stupid Americans.... (hides)

I have the CV-RX .15 and it was quite hard to pull over when i was new, but now (after 2gall) it a dream, and still as powerfull.
- If you prime it with the primer, give it 2/3 pumps after its reached the carb.

Or do as i do, take the air filter off, and put a splash down the carb.
- Dont go mad and flood it with loads.
- But with the throtle closed (at idle) fill from the throtal barrel to the top.
- Then spin it over once, repeat, and then fire it up. Mine start 1st/2nd pull every time from cold.

8 : a difficult and often educational experience -- used in the phrase through the mill

I guess it's because of number 9...

Nothing like the long way to a short anwser......:ponder2:

The old corn "mills" were a simple device that had a large stone on top of another large stone and was rotated by way of a mule, donkey, horse, whatever was available at the time, but all the animal did all day long was walk in circles of about 15'-25' diameter attached to a lever bar and sometimes a gear mechanism constantly rotating the upper stone while the lower stone stayed mounted still, and corn was fed between the stones and turned into meal,,the same applies for wheat and flour mills, but it was mostly for corn.
Think about the term "horse power" and the ability of a mill to turn corn into corn"meal".
