Ok so this is the setup.
Ofna Jammin Crt .5
Feigao 9L
Mamba Max
Castle BEC
Maxamps 4S 8000
Hitec 5955

After running, i noticed i had a little bit of residue where my pinion and spur meet. Since they are both metal, i DO expect some wear but i am just wondering if this is excessive or about normal.

here is my battery setup.
This way i can use them on my crt and my e-savage.

That looks pretty normal to me......my Savage eats metal gears up pretty fast....torque breaks stuff...How long has it been on there?

Any dirt, dust, moisture or otherwise that gets caught in between the spurs will be thrown off in that spot, by centrifugal force.

this thing SCREAMS on a 4S too. esc stays cool and the motor is around 130

I was using a RRP hardened steel spur and pinion on my GMaxx with a brushles set-up.

It would turn the pinion teeth into razor blades after 1 day of racing 2 heats and a main.

I got tired of buying pinions and decided to swap for a RRP plastic spur and standard pinion by Traxxas.

I put over 6 races days on the new set-up and neither gear show any signs of wear.

Sometimes using hardened steel for the gears isn't always the best set-up.

do they make a spur for the crt thats plastic?

i posted this in nitro, can i get it moved to electric. sorry bout that

No problem, Done.

I agree with this. I have always used steel clutch bells, but plastic spurs on my nitros. I

Look who built it. :D

The residue is dirt, trash, and diff oil. I have a friend that ran the same type pinoin on a Losi 8 on 6S.

you did an excellent job on it. I am doing a little wire cleanup and then it will be perfecto.

You could also try some dry wax based lube to help cause less friction on the pinion/spur which may make it wear longer. I know it works well on my cvd's, plastic spurs and diff ring/pinion gears.
